I just found a goldmine...no kidding.

Reborn Smashing Pumpkins Audio Archive (http://rspaa.niluje.net/data/)

y'all might have all ready checked this out but I just discovered it. You don't even need to download...it streams audio for ya.

Some highlights I've liked...

1/20/1992 - Nederlands :) Check out "I Am One" (you'll burn motherfucker....BURN...) a gorgeous "Crush" and a early version of the pretty "Luna" ... I haven't listened to any more of them from that show but I dig it...

the 1989 shows...you can tell the difference between 4/30 and 10/31...they got so much better. Billy's voice in 4/30 was baaaaaad but it's also wierd that they sound so 80's Judas Priestish metal or something...they had a totally different sound and he sounds much less comfortable singing...it's so strange to see them before they really grew into the band we know and love. Rhinoceros sounds so different and not nearly as nice and soft and mysterious and sexy. Hearing that song evolve is cool.

12/17/91 in Cali...Siva...at the end where they stop playing, they're getting ready to come back in all loud, and the crowd is cheering and Billy doesn't say anything but you know he's like "we'll come back in when we want to come back in mother fuckers..." More James harmony on Siva as well as his funny "aunt/ain't joke at the end. I think Billy had grown into his voice at this point...he does the "I inhale" chorus so well and James just doesn't have the menace to pull it off.

Bury Me 12/31/90 sounds A LOT like the album version. You can hear how it came together, too.

6/22/93 - pretty Disarm.

11/20/93 in Washington DC - the Boredom song. He sings "Boredom" with such angst I tell you! :D

1/27/96 is the Brazil festival show where D'Arcy bitches at James for singing "Boys Don't Cry" I guess the Cure were at that festival too and D'Arcy's like "That's the next band, that's not us....stop it! You're embarrasing me!" I'd heard this before, nice to hear it again.

4/12/96 Oslo...Porcelina. Especially the 2 guitars at the end. Wow, so so gorgeous. Heaven might possibly sound like that :) I remember loving Porcelina live at the show I was at, too. Of course I'm pretty sure this version was with Jimmy Chamberlin (and I think I hear Melvoin's keyboards, too) and mine (Feb. 2, 1997, Jacksonville, FL) had Matt Walker. Mine was good, if memory seves me well, but I'm pretty sure this one beats it!

9/11/96 Montreal Jame's Primal Scream Therapy...GREAT :) Need to listen to more of that show since they seemed to be in good sprits.

ok that's enough for now. I have work in 4 hours, have to be ready to go in 3 hours and I have lots and lots to do so I should probably quit goofing off now. I haven't been feeling well so I've been more on the "pretty" song side of things, or bits to make me laugh. But I would love to find a good version of XYU when I'm feeling better and up for being angry again. I loved the XYU at the Jacksonville show I was at...I think it was my fave of the night...you could tell he was going through a lot and he yelled "I SAID I'VE HAD ENOUGH OF YOUR SHIT...NOW GO!" or something like that. It was pretty crazy. But they don't have that show on there.

For someone like me who doesn't want to spend time tracking down certain shows this is a nice treat to get to hear some of their different live perforamnces. The beautiful performances like that Porcelina in Oslo just warm and soothe the Pumpkin fan's heart I think. And it's also fun to hear their first shows and hear them get better, and hear Rhinoceros evolve into a really good song.

If I am doing anything wrong by posting that web address (I don't see why I am but still...) feel free to delete the thread, mods.

Also, did you know you're transferring the same amount of data when you "stream" the songs as when you download them?

By the way, that site has been around for about a year now.

I knew I was going to get some of you smartasses! (I love you anyways) I will respond even though I really need to be getting other things done! 1)I had dial up here at home for a while and just recently got DSL so downloading/or streaming was kinda hard for me before. I had DSL in college but I was too busy with school to be doing much music downloading. 2)I knew about SPFC I'd been there before but I never saw any easily available stuff to listen to, all though I did see the tour histry, bootlist, etc. but I couldn't be arsed to go about getting one of the shows, especially if I didn't all ready know what it sounded like 3) I'm trying not to dowload anything on this computer, mine is busted and this is my dad's on loan to me, and he says I busted my old one from downloading stuff so the less he catches me downloading the better 4) I don't see why you can't use it as a streaming site to just listen but if that's wrong I said they could take away my post.

I know I spend a lot of time on Blamo but I really am not a computer-y download-y spend time trying to get bootlegs kinda person. So that was a lot of fun for me to hear some of that stuff. If you're in the same boat as me, cool. If you're not you can still comment on the performances :)

1. You can't download songs of spfc.org. That's an information website only.

2. The difference between what you call streaming and actually downloading the mp3s to some folder somewhere on your harddisk is that "streaming" downloads the mp3s to a temporary folder, plays the songs and then deletes them again. You might find this easier, that's your business. I can imagine listening to an entire show is not so practical this way though.

But what we're forgetting here is that when you want to listen to a song or a show again, you will have to download it again. Because you didn't keep the mp3 on your pc.
What's wrong with downloading again? Nothing much if you have unmetered internet. Or if you have enough downloading capacity anyway.
On the other side there's still the French guy who's paying his ass off for the server. And it's not unusual that he has to pay more if there was more downloaded. Not your business? Well, you're probably right about that. :D

Nevermind.

ok I knew 1 and 2. I only brought the SPFC up because someone had asked if I'd ever heard of it. And I knew 2, but I all ready explained that I don't wanforget to delete something and my dad see it and me get in trouble. And if I deleted it and redownloaded it I'd be redowlonading anyways.

you make a point with 3 though. The reason I thought the mods might want to take the thread down due to traffic for the site. You showed specifically why - why add more traffic to the site when you could just download it once. And for most people I agree that's the best situation. I might make a donation or something :) If you can download, I think you showed why it's better. Agreed on that count.

OK I AM STILL NOT READY FOR WORK!
