View Full Version : So Billy Corgan is getting sued...

Evil Meanie
08-11-2005, 09:44 PM
Yep...it says so on his myspace. I never found the link because it is like a madhouse there with all the comments, but the gist of it is that he is being sued by 14 fans for reuniting SP or something of that nature.

Jackal
08-11-2005, 09:47 PM
I saw that!

Fucking stupid fans wanting money back because he said it was the final SP performance.

Yeah! America.

Trickster
08-11-2005, 09:54 PM
Amazing. They should win. It is really quite lame to be re-forming SP, just as he's meant to be starting his solo career.

Spaced

As far as I know, the Pumpkins were officially the "Smashing Pumpkins".
The reformed band just needs to be officially recognised as "The Smashing Pumpkins", so it's a new band as opposed to the old one. It's more than likely that 50% of the line-up will be diffrent, so that also helps!:)

ps. The 'fans' suing Billy are retarded beyond any measure!

Trickster

I believe they added the "The" from Mellon Collie onwards so it was clear to people that "Smashing" was an adjective, not a verb.

This is true.

Also, I bet the fans are wanting compensation for the insane price they paid scalpers for their tickets. The prices wouldn't have been so jacked up if it wasn't the last show.

You know what would be fitting? Billy decides not to reform the band so that he won't have to deal with the lawsuit or for whatever reason. Then the plaintiffs are murdered by legions of angry netphorians.

Forgot about the MCIS change. Anyway, I can't see all the original band members reforming, so in that sense the Metro was the last performance. Billy could also do a Prince and reform the band under a symbol such as the SP heart or Machinas Cross thing:rolleyes:

Eye

Better yet, reform as The Machines of God lol j/k.

Drunkenmaster
08-12-2005, 12:11 AM
Oh, I hope they win. That is pretty shitty to say it's the last Pumpkins show and then reform so soon. I'd have given my left nut to be at that show but I'd be a little pissed if I gave it up for nothing. So, let's see, now I have one nut and... yeah, give me some fucking money, bitch.

It would be funny if they won though :D

I actually went to the last metro, and believe me it was insane. Some of the prices that the fans were paying was outrageous...1,000..1,500...2,500 it was insane!!

But to sue Billy for it is total BS. The performance was great! I mean we all knew deep down inside that he would reform the pumpkins, heck I knew this on 5/23..

I dunno dude. I'd be pretty pissed if I was one of the people who paid over two thousand dollars just to get there and then on top of that pay inflated ticket prices thinking it was my last chance to see one of my favorite bands and then they already plan to reunite a mere 5 years later.

Kris It has been for a couple of months now. Didn't I make a post about it? Probably not.

And how's the situation with marihuana today? I can't remember. It changes two times a year.

Anyway, I believe they're only selling a soft and wussy kind of absinth. Controlled, no dangerous substances, ...
I don't know. I never had absinth. Enjoy it and let me know if it's worth buying.

It's 55%. I don't know what percent usual absinth is, but 55% is good enough for me.

Absente, Absinth and Absinthe are 3 different things...the real deal is Absinthe which is usually 70% and dangerous in large amounts..the other 2 are not dangerous and are around 50%

All of them are made with the same ingredients though...just in different proportions

You have to be kidding me. Are you really so desperate to bash Billy that you would support something as asinine as suing him for "reviving" the Pumpkins? The Metro show loses absolutely no significance whatsoever just because Billy is talking about getting the band back together. It was a five hour show that marked, if not the end of The Pumpkins, the end of an era for The Smashing Pumpkins.

Should I sue Hulk Hogan for constantly coming out of retirement for one more wrestling match? Or maybe Michael Jordan for coming out of retirement not once, but TWICE. Better yet, I'll sue Roger Waters for sharing a stage with David Gilmour again, since his insisted that he never would numerous times.

Bands break up, swear that they'll never get back together, and then get back together all the time. People go into retirement, and then come out of retirement constantly. It's a fact of life. So these people paid thousands of dollars for their Metro tickets, big fucking deal. I'm surprised a lawyer even took their case.

I'm really not, but it honestly probably has about as much legitimacy as the petitions to get the Metro DVD released and to get James and D'arcy back into the band. But still, I found it so ridiculous that I just had to point it out.

I knew this was going to happen. Some kind of legal trouble was going to ensue. It just had to.

If D'Arcy declines the offer to rejoin then i can certainly see her sueing Billy for misappropriation. It happens all the times with bands that do this sort of thing (i.e. Creedence Clearwater Revival/Revisited). As a matter of fact i could see her decling just so she could sue.

But this is even lower than low. But it will get thrown out. I have no doubt about it. Billy can certainly afford a better attorney than these chumps. And it will be established that either he truly did intend to leave things as they were, and that the band actually did dissolve, therefore this is a new incarnation; the "final" show was the final show, or they will use some convoluted loop-hole to allay any legal penalties.

Does anyone remember that guy that sued the Pumpkins because he stood too close to that speaker and blew his ears out? What a dumbass.
