by the seashore!
My dear sister of 13 years old smells to describe it i would say sea air, soap and entrenched b.o
I'm not too bothered by the smell but she is young and her peers etc do i mention or let it slide? if so how would i go about it?
do tell!
people that age always smell, they've just started sweating profusely but they don't quite realise it yet and so don't shower enough. true story.

Yes, I remember having a discussion with a few school friends when we were put on prefect duty during the Junior's lunch time, and we remarked about the 'sweaty, smelly juniors'. I think this tells it's own tale.

Tell her. You may save her from a truly embarrassing future situation.

Eh, no, half the year were made prefects. It's no big deal, you just get a little badge saying 'prefect'.
And no of course I'm not Moe, infact I used to hate the cunt but we developed an interesting love/hate relationship.

I think she needs to know. How to tell her though? With tact and humor I guess. Even if it's embarrasing and she hates you for telling her, she will probably take your advice. Then she'll eventually get over being mad at you and thank you for it when she realizes how many more people want to hang around her when she doesn't stink. So I guess you gots to do it.

You should tell her...It'll stop any awkward situations with her friends and other people who may point it out...better you point it out then some oaf!
My sister has smelly feet and I tell her all the time!!!

I should also add that i tend to ignore her or when we converse i scowl so it would seem completely insincere but yes!

why dont you just buy her deoderant? get one of those nice smelling body spray types.
then you're telling her without telling her, and helping to solve the problem.

Or try powerfully suggesting that you smelled a nice scent/perfume the other day that she should try?

then you're telling her without telling her, and helping to solve the problem. yeah, i agree entirely with this.
my mum's tactic with my sister was great. she walked up to her and went "mmmm, b.o!" which caused my sister to burst into floods of tears and actually start deodorising.
though it was another three or four years before she mastered the art of bathing.

My rather crusty and macho grade six teacher gave the class the following lecture:
"Look. You're in year 6 now, and some of you are starting to stink. Get some deodorant!"
And there ended Mr. Melican's sex ed session for the day! Paranoia and surreptitious armpit sniffing ensued en masse.

my sister used to have a friend who smelled HORRIBLE, constantly. she was absolutely disgusting, and after giving her a ride once in my car, and the smell lingered, i refused to do so ever again. one weekend she was coming to our beach house with us, and my mom got her a pretty little set from a smelly bath store- shower gel, deodorant, body spray, shampoo, etc. she got one for my sister so it didn't seem unusual, just that she picked the girls up a treat. it STILL didn't help...you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink heh...and they haven't been friends for years, thank god. they were about 13ish at the time.

I don;t understand why some people can;t smell themselves. I know your own odours (farts included) are tolerable to your own nose, but I used to know if I whiffed in school, and did something about it. (nb: I didnt smell very often in school or anything)
Like one time, i was up 2 late to get a shower, and when I got to skewl I ponged a bit, and went in the bathroom and lathered up my hands and wiped my pits. thats all it took, but smelly people just dont put the effortz in man.
ronan: I would leave her secret notes saying "You smell" or "Get some deoderant". That should do the trick.

It's like when you are on the bus or something and a fatty gets on and they stink...Why can't they smell it...and if they can...they're just being lazy...wash and spray!!!!

being smelly isnt good. i was working one day then this woman, who was very obese, came to my check out. i had to pack her bags and could smell her for the 5 minutes she was just standing there. i was heaving. if she was there any longer i would have been sick. i couldnt tell her though cause she might've complained then i'd have the sack or something. you dont want your sister to end up like this now do you?!
