View Full Version : My family was watching "Ice Princess" in the next room when I heard Björk...

I heard the distinctive mellow opening notes of "It's Oh So Quiet" coming through my wall and I bolted into the living room to see what it was. A bunch of preadolescent girls were doing an ice routine to a cover of this song. They cut all the quiet verses out so all the dynamics were gone. The woman's voice had none of Björk's charm. All my heroes are dead.

Oh, and normally I would have made this thread in the Pumpkins forum, but I'm tring to follow the rules...

Once Kristi Yamaguchi did a routine to the actual Bjork version, not edited or whatever. It was cute. I was only a kid, but I remember it.

You do know that the Bjork's version is a cover, right?

I was unaware of that... but I did get the suspicion shortly after making the post. I wonder if the song on the movie was the original. It's just that the instruments sounded so similiar. I would expect a Björk cover to be a little more varied.

That movie looks so cookie-cutter, lame, boring and other peter-like things I can't think of at the moment.

Not a big fan of the Bjork either. Sorry guys :(

Oh yes, I can say nothing in defense of the movie. I walked out as soon as the song was over, shaking my head. My mom said, "I thought that part was cute!" And I replied, "Oh, I wasn't actually watching--just listening."

they play Bjork's version of I's oh so quiet at my work place.....constantly...along with britney spears and a wide selection of emo-pop bands that all sound disgustingly alike.

Now I'm even less impressed with that movie. "Hey guys, remember that one girl that did that one routine that was really cool? Yeah, well let's get that music."

later

"What, you mean that bitch won't let us use her song?! Fuck that shit, we'll get someone else to do a cover!"

"What, you mean that bitch won't let us use her song?! Fuck that shit, we'll get someone else to do a cover!" what were you expecting from this movie? cause it sounds to me like you had pretty high expectations from a film geared towards pre-pubescent girls and their mums.

Oh, I had no expectations. I only watched that one scene. I'm just trying to be funny

Please don't make fun of me; I'm only trying to flirt with you
