features the best drumming by Jimmy in your guys' opinion?

I'm burning a SP cd for a friend of mine, who is a drummer and I thought it would be appropriate to showcase Jimmy's talent throughout the homemade disc.

Lucky 13 and Rock On from Judas O come to my mind.

Any others?

I'm not much of a drum expert, so my opinion is completely useless, but there is just one little bit of Thru the Eyes of the Ruby, where Billy screams "ON THE YOUNG!!" where Jimmy does something on the drums that sounds really cool and impressed my drummer friend, although I never asked him why...

geek usa of course. I quite like the drums on Stand inside your Love too, but then again I'm not a drummer to qualify technically my liking them so much. But that was the first new Pumpkins song I heard since Adore. No one else sounds like him, and I heard that song and was like...JIMMY'S DRUMS...HE'S BACK. You could hear those drums and KNOW it was Jimmy even if no one told you he was back. Rae-Rae (Rae who used to post here and I miss a lot...) made me a mix CD that had the first live performance of Age of Innocence with Jimmy playing...the performance was before Machina came out even though it was after the Pumpkins last show before I heard it. That performance was hella incredible and Billy said after the song "See Jimmy, you are the difference"

I'm sure there are incredible live recordings of his drumming out there...look for a good live performance!

Jimmy's actually said that Mayonaise was hard to record and get the drums that smooth and it took like 5 million takes if that matters any...I've heard him talk most about Geek USA and Mayo as far as his drumming experiences. --MA

I don't know. But he seems pretty darn good.

I know he's never mentioned on any list about good drummers. Or is he? Was he back then?

I've thought he was very tight. But maybe not innovative enough?

But I'm not really a big fan of that song. Oh, and Cash Car Star is totally Jimmy's song.

I always thought that his drumming stood out more on that record than on the SP albums

I think he said that songs like "Of A Broken Heart" were difficult because they were much more normal.

TOASE--He's hidden back in the track a little bit, maybe masked a little by the layer of effect on the vocals, but what he's doing is otherworldly.

tonight tonight is a good one too... But i think mary star of the sea should be on your little CD that is great drum work, not to mention one kick ass song.

You should really get a live version of the extended mary star ... I was completely in awe of his drumming when I saw that.

That is crazy fast. What amazes me most about his drumming is that even with his most impressive songs for drumming, you just know that he could play it almost twice as fast, LIVE. Unbelievable just to have the agility to do that and not to ever lose control. He's such a master of his drumkit, that's why I prefer him to Danny Carey. The drummers shouldn't be compared, yet everyone compares them but that's my view.

yes, yes, yes.

I know it's not SP, but the drums in MSOTS are some of the best by JC.

I thought this was going to be some crappy "Which Smashing Pumpkins song are you?" type quiz.

tonight, tonight is too easy...he's just tapping on the rim of the snare during the verses. to me, it's more about the lyrics and the string section in that song.

I was surprised by this mention as well.

Someone else talked about the "ON THE YOUNG!!" part of TTEOR. I agree with that post.
