if i make a direct copy of a store bought pumpkins cd, would the burned copy have any less audio quality? or does it keep file types exactly the same?

If you burned at about 4x or even 2x, the difference probably wouldnt be detectable to the human ear. Oh but make sure you got some good quality CD-R's.

Normally there will be no difference between the original and the copy. Unless you're using some crap program to copy the cd.
A frequent mistake during cd copying is that the copy has extra silence between the tracks.

Well it's not 'free' but the program that most people tend to use is Nero, it's pretty good most of the time. So if a friend has a copy, you can borrow it off them ;).
