Hello,
How are things?
Project Alpha ( actually that's me) has started to bring out work. The first reviews were encouraging but the project is looking for more feedback. Hence I dare post this message to ask you all for your opinion/feedback.
Allthough it was pointed out to me that the general taste here might be slightly different as to the music I produce as of late.
The question is also in what style this music should be fitted, is it modern day jazz, fusion, funk, lounge, new age or what?
Some call it Mellow House.
Can anybody here relate to that?
I play all instruments one can hear, record and produce all things myself, no samples used in the music.
Accept maybe a drum machine which I programmed myself, played the pattern in live so to speak.
I'm a bassplayer actually and I am not qualified to play in a solo on keyboard for excample and I find there is room for that still in my work. Trombone maybe.
I think I still have to learn much so any help is welcome.
If you are interested please go and listen at:

I put three pieces there.
Thanks in advance and with kind regards, Project Alpha.:-D

hey dude, I will be glad to listen to your stuff if you have mp3s... streaming audio never works on my computer... I have crappy dial-up.

Hey you who is Sam's screen name,
Tell Sam that at that site there is a provision for dial up stream. It's called lo-bit.
The quality is less and I don't know if it really works but if you have Winamp it should be working.
Keep me posted if you decide to have a listen or at least try to.
The music is totally different from yours.
Perhaps you will find it not worth your wild.
With kind regards, P-Alpha.

yeah, I tried that but it will play bits and peices than it takes time to load more of the song. I listened to a little bit of it... The bass work is great, but I only listened to like a few seconds... you should upload it on yousend it or websamba or something :)

Hey,
Oh I see, well sorry about that.
A common problem I fear.
Well at least thank you for making the effort to try and review it and saying that my bass sounds okay.
Perhaps I will upload it to those sites you mentioned.
I'm quite new at this, you know.
With kind regards,P-Alpha.

Hey,
Is there perhaps anybody else who would like to share an opinion about the music I put online?
Any feedback will be welcome.
Thanks in advance, P-Alpha.

Kahlo?

I really like the song writing and general sound you're going for. It's too synthetic sounding for my tastes, but I tend to love more natural sounding instruments. How did you record it? I'm guessing it's a mix of keyboard & bass? I think if you could get more realistic keyboard reproduction it would be ace. The bass is really cool, and easily my favorite part.
I will say that aside from the synthetic sound, the recording of it is really well balanced. How did you record the bass? Good stuff.

Thank you !!

Yes, I can relate to that. It's probably the way my keyboard sounds and the inexperience in recording.
The one at the bottom is my first one , the middle one my second and.....yes the top one is my third. I only started recording in april this year. So I'm trying to improve things along the way. Feedback from you and others help, thanks!!

Yes! You're absolutely right!!
And I use Cubase SX 2 + a simple drummachine.
Zoom rhythm track rt-123

Gee thanks, bass is my main instrument. I only got the keyboard for a few months now, I don't really know what I'm doing actually, hahahahahaha!!!!! But I'm glad you like the bass.
I will say that aside from the synthetic sound, the recording of it is really well balanced.
Okay, so you think it's acceptable enough to try and get some major exposure?
How did you record the bass? Good stuff.
I have a small and simple mixer ( Behringer 1602) and I plugged it straight in. And I have a TC Electronics M 300 for effects. In the top one ( Slap) I put in a little hall and a little flanging.
In the others only a little hall
The mixer was equalized neutral but I did fool around a bit with the equalizer from Cubase.
Any further questions I'll be glad to answer. Got any music of yourself somewhere by any chance?
Just curious.
Thanks very much for your comments so far.
With kind regard, P-Alpha:-D

Hey,
Project Alpha has made it into the TOP 10 of the site where its music is situated for streaming and downloads.
Not bad when one considders there are more than 500 bands there and twice or triple the amount of tracks.
Never thought it would go that way
If you want to check it out go to :
http://www.radioindy.com
Scroll to the bottom right, Project Alpha is at place 8(and rising).
There are over 6700 streams and downloads registered and still the meter is counting
I would like to thank everyone who helped me with feedback and those who just enjoy what I'm trying to do with Project Alpha.
Want to listen/review/download?

Hi Project Alpha.
I'm listening to Soaring Eagle right now...there are things I really like about it, and things I don't. I agree with Am Pam about the synthetic sounds of the drums and all. The drums are too 80s sounding, but the other instrument work is great, the bass obviously and the restrained keyboard work is great. It's almost Talking Heads style but a little different.
Now as far as major exposure goes....I personally think your music is best suited to go with film. I think you would succeed very well writing scores for tv or film. So maybe take that into consideration if it's something you hadn't thought of yet.
So I'm listening to between Amsterdam and Marrakech now. And instantly the same thing applies...it's not music I would listen to by itself, but I can see it's definately setting the mood for something, which is why I think your music needs to be put to film.
Anyway, hope that helped. Hop on over to my thread if you want to return the favour and tell me what you think of my songs!

Hey Ed,
Sorry for answering late, I'm quite busy lately.
Thanks for your comment, I appreciate it. I tend to agree with you and will persue(?) to try and get film makers interested.
Some say lately my music is a kind of "soundscape" music, so that fits in with your feelings about it.
It's true that I rather want to put down an atmosphere than something else. So it's certainly not pop or something.
I find it a pity that I haven't got a guitar yet and/or have other players to make it more diverse.
I'll have to work on that.Still.... despite all that speaks against it there are nearly 12.500 streams and downloads now.
I must be doing something right :-)
Beats me if I know what it is, hahahahahaha!!!
Where can I find some of your work??
I'm certainly interested.
With kind regards, Ad ( P-Alpha)

Good stuff! I hope to hear a tune of yours when I'm watching tv one day. :)
You can find my stuff on my myspace profile (http://www.myspace.com/thewoodlandishghoul), I just recorded and put up a new song too! It's called the Skin, and though it's long, it's not boring in my opinion, so if you can stomach long songs, then check it out!

Hey Ed,
Thanks for kind words and like wise :-)
You're song sounds great.
It reminded me of English rock.Echoes from David Bowie and The Clash.
It's not boring no indeed not.
It lacks two things though....a band :drums: to perform it with and a large concert hall filled with a bunch of people.:raise::raise: :raise: :raise: :raise: :raise: :raise:
With kind regards, P-Alpha.
