with the band getting back together,do any of you think it's possible that one day in the future, machina ii would be officially released on cd with another record label?
the only songs that wouldnt be on there would be real love, lucky 13 and slow dawn, since they are 'under exclusive license to Virgin Records America, Inc.'
(this is under the assumption that the pumpkins would likely find a new label since disputes with virgin are part of the reason they broke up)

Actually... no. Billy has talked about it recently. It is still supposed to happen.
I would like to see a Machina II release, just because the audio quailty would be a little better than what I already have. A remastered release that totally skips the conversion to vinyl would be interesting, too.
On the Vieuphoria DVD, Silverfuck is listed as Silvererfuck. I couldn't be bothered starting a new thread since it might be common knowledge, and also, no one cares.

if you'd rather not wait for an official re-release of machina II which may never happen, you may like to snatch the flawlessly remastered version thats shared over at the Zomb.

me too. i started this thread because i noticed the original vinyl on ebay thread, and thought it would be funny since people are willing to spend in upwards of $1000 for something that could be found in stores one day.

I have one. Alot of people try to convince me it's a bootleg, but it isn't. Take a look at the bottom of a cd, you can tell the difference between a burned cd and a glassmaster cd. You can't order less than a thousand glassmasters and you CAN NOT burn one on a home computer. You know, the ones you get for burning are chepa and have that blueish (or other color) tint, compare with the cds at the record store. Also, this doesnt have aprinted sticker, its printed on the cd itself. The artowkr isnt like the vinals, its other vasili kafanov art (the guy who did machina 1). It has all but 2 songs that were released online and on the records, i forget which two, i'll have to loo again(im not home right now as i type). Anyway, it has no record label on it. It's a radio promo. It was made to give to radio DJs as a promotion. Just a few were made. I bought it in Austin Tx, at waterloo records, where the pumpkins came and did a record signing, met fans, and did some radio interviews during the machina tour (my sister stood in line and got my a poster signed that year). And, the songs on it sound as good as those couple sogns that ended up on the greatest hits/judasO. It was definitely professionally mastered.
As far as an official release... not likely. But, after they write new songs on tour, Billy may want to just release stuff online since he "hates the f-ing record business", but they'll do an album. Think about it, you know a SP reunion record will go platinu instantly, they can deman any contract with any company they want.

Anyone with half-decent contacts can get large amounts of glassmasters burnt, and cheaply for that matter too. And yes, you can get less than 1000. I know someone who sells them in 200's actually.

Okay, so somebody is going to spend the money to order 200 cds from a store to make some sillt bootleg that nobody is going spend much money on, and somehow sell them to stores, and makes omething off it? When a cd sells a real cd, a percentage goes to the artist. When independant stores sell a bootleg, they got ahold of it somehow, either just ended up with it personally for free or bought it from somebody really really cheap, and paid for it fully before they sold it. So you get nothing if your bootleg is sold in a store. So what'd be the motivation? So, laugh because a stranger on the internet appears to know less about something than you do. Good I hope you feel really smart mocking someone you don't know a thing about. I don't care what anybody thinks my radio-promo is. i was just trying to answer the question that a mastered machina2 exists. I'm a musician from a family of musicians. I have spent time in a a recording studio. I have had my music recorded, and had the same music professionally mastered. I know the difference.

You might also want to check your router settings if you're behind a firewall. You might need to open a port to increase torrent speed.
However, you will get better speeds if you allow incoming connections as well. To do this you must use the "port forwarding" feature of whatever is performing the NAT/gateway task. For example, if you have a cable or DSL connection and a router/switch/gateway/firewall, you will need to go into the configuration of this device and forward ports 6881-6889 to the local machine that will be using BitTorrent. If your device makes it hard to enter a range of ports (if you must enter each one separately), then you can just do the first 10 or so ports, or however many simultaneous clients you plan to ever have open. If more than one person behind such a gateway wishes to use BitTorrent, then each machine should use a different port range, and the gateway should be configured to forward each port range to the corresponding local machine.

I just wanted to state here that I got my hands on the Zomb remaster awhile back, and while it is in lossless quality, it's in FLAC, which is an enormous pain for Mac users to bother with for starters. More importantly, it's a BAD remaster. It's just louder, and peakier. That's about it. I've never understood why people think remastered should always mean louder, but sadly, that's what they do. Generally, anything mastered after 1995 starts to get too loud and peaky, and tends to distort much more easily. Smashing Pumpkins is generally one of the better bands about this, but they're not perfect. For the worst examples, check out RHCP's newest album, Stadium Arcadium, and Californication. Californication is the worst case I've ever seen. Anyway, enough of the rant; the main point is, the "normal" master running around the net, despite its lower bitrate, is in my opinion smoother and by extension better quality; I didn't notice any increase in detail in this remastered version, at least not enough to make it worth the trouble I had finding it, and its inexcusable LOUDness.

In most cases it's in the mastering that the LOUD thing happens, not in production. Rubin doesn't have much of a say in it, once he's done his part the band does whatever they (or their record company) want to the recording.

Notice I said bands, not artists. I've found that his work with Johnny Cash and other quieter acts is fine, but when he goes for bands that are "loud"... (RHCP, SOAD, Mars Volta) there tends to be a lot of clipping. As Frank said, the mastering could also be to blame - maybe he uses the same mastering engineer (if that's the right term) for his loud artists and that's why they all sound like that. You seriously can't miss the painful clipping that's on the last two System Of A Down albums, likewise RHCP. He's done loads of great work in the past, and made tons of classic albums, but I think it's maybe his recent use of modern technology that's ruined quite a few close-to-amazing albums... IMHO etc

I never had any problems with De-Loused. However, Frances The Mute has these annoying skipping noises through most of the second half of the album, it's so annoying. I'm not sure who was responsible for that, but they're not out of a job already then they should be (unless one of the band members was responsible for it, which I doubt).

it also bothers me that artists (frank zappa) are filed under their first name and not their last.
heh.
P.S. I've listened to lightning bolt a fair bit, and have kinda got in to them... but not really. to be brutally honest, they are a bit same-y and a whole album becomes a challenge to listen to.
It bothers me that there are more bands than i have the patience to read .
I only like three bands four at the most. it's hard work being a fan of a band
and investing in the musical experience and all that it entails.

It bothers me that this person in trying to impress us. It's like the person you get high with is constantly saying "dude, do you know how high I am?" after 2 tokes.
For fucks sake, don't be that guy.

I don't care who's on your iPod, and the fact that you're listing the bands for us to read reeks of desperation to be accepted and thought of as "cool" which is definitely not cool.

I half want to say I hope you copied that from your myspace/livejournal/etc and didn't write it out especially for us, but that'd mean you're a sad git who has a list of every band they like on their myspace/livejournal/etc, so actually, I hope you copied that from someone else's myspace/livejournal/etc.
sadly....i copied it from my myspace....which DOES mean that i actually spent 2 whole hours of my life typing that shit out.....but that was a period where i didnt have friends for like 6 months.........i still add to it every once in a while.....
PS....add Broadcast to the B's

So.... we're cool!?
I have to listen to every pumpkins song recorded every day brefore I can listen to anything else. Every day I hear a new Pixies song! Soon I will have heard their entire catalogue and I will rule the world with my coolness!*
*That's the tie-in.

No one can tell you if you're cool, and you can't ask anyone if you're cool. It's one of those unspoken things, like being a Mason, or Meninite.

Masons strut their Mason logo shit all over the place. They have rings, bling for their cars, and let's not forget those funky hats they wear on their go-carts during parades!

There's a lot of Masons here. As far as I have seen, all they do is get drunk on fridays and dress like hoodlums.

maybe you didn't have any friends cos you did things like sitting around typing out lists of bands in order to appear cool?
i bet you also had a choice few that you thought were really "hip" written on your school bag/pencil case/random item of your choice....
I agree with the "The" listing gripe, and also the solo artist under their first name. Ever been to a record store?
I enjoy the Presidents of the USA, occasionally.
