Vanilla Ice is proof that the "tough guy" image is as phony as it is pre-fabricated. I love looking back at recent pop culture.

We were doomed from the beginning, like Romeo and Juliet.

This explains a lot.
What isn't explainable, is Vanilla's hat.

Mr Ice was in some lame british reality tv show last year...he had to live on a farm...it wasn't any good....Did he release a nu-metal album a few years ago?

He sure did! It probably sucked, just like his rap career!

Man, he just won't give up. I think he is incapable of realizing that he was a gimmick, and people weren't into him for his "Cool as Ice" attitude that he naturally exudes.
I love the Surreal Life which he was in. Nothing will beat Corey Feldman, but Vanilla Ice was up there.

There is a cable/digital tv channel over here called 'men and motors' and he used to present a show on that...think it was about motorbikes.

I think he's more self-aware than you give him credit for. You should read his bio on his website. (it's actually an autobio, but don't anyone tell him that)
http://www.vanillaice.com/bio.shtml
I have to give him a little respect for pulling through all that (with Motocross?). But being self-aware doesn't necessarily make him talented, or tasteful. I can't really speak to that. I can't even remember very much of his early 90s output. Was it really that bad?
I listened to some of his samples, and the nu-metal stuff didn't sound completely awful. ouch! stop... throwing... *thud*

Well, he certainly sounds like someone who has realized, that yes, pop culture is bullshit, and to stop modeling himself after it.
Then you listen to this (http://www.vanillaice.com/audio/bipolar_04.wma) , and you realize that all his non-sense about "The new Vanilla Ice is exactly that; no image, no polished made up gimmicks created by record companies. I will never be a puppet for the industry again. From this point on I will keep it real." is well, non-sense. Had he actually made music with some signifigance, I'd buy his shtick, although probably not his album.
With inspired track titles like "Mudd Munster", "The Weed Song", "Hip-Hop rules", and "Hot Sex", it certainly is evident that we are in the 2nd Ice Age!
I will give him credit for his honesty about his past. That certainly takes some courage to discuss openly. Can't say the same about "Mudd Munster" though.

He's still making music for a younger audience. He flat-out admits it in his autobio. I dunno if I can really fault him for that.

Anyone ever hear about how Suge Knight dangled Ice off of a balcony because Ice didn't ante up the cash to a songwriter Suge was managing?
