Well, as much as I admire Billy's musical talent, he is such a knobsack.
The reunion would be a very bad idea. He just wants some more money because he is past it. Filthy Lucre anyone?
He talks about reformation just to plug his album. Its such a cheap, low publicity stunt.
He plays the intro to Today during one show, and then whinges at another when someone shouts "play some Pumpkins" at him.
Leave the memory of the band in peace. People are only wanking themselves stupid over this because they were too young to see them, and theyre just selfish.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...
If the band comes back and puts out an album full of new material and continues to build on their old body of work...then I am completely in favor of a reunion.
If they come back to play their greatest hits, then that cheapens the band and there's no reason whatsoever for them to reunite.

It just makes no sense whatsoever. In Atlanta, Corgan kept on saying, "It ain't what you think it's gonna be," when people yelled stuff about SP. To me, that would mean that it's NOT going to be cashing in on the band's name and touring the world playing "Zero" and "Bullet" and "Tonight, Tonight." I really think that if the band gets back together, regardless of who is in it, (and I honestly think that at least James will be back.) that we will be treated to new music and a new album.
Now as to whether or not anyone will LIKE the new music..I don't know about that. Every Pumpkins album brings something different to the table, and sort of builds on an idea that might have come up briefly in the album before it. I imagine that their next album will probably pick up where Machina left off...and we all KNOW that Machina is just the worst album ever...:rolleyes:

I knew it would be a bad idea mentioning this here. I was told about the negativity that prevails these boards. The way so called "fans" shoot down other fans. And as for all this talk about tarnishing the memory of the band and stuff, what you all seem to be forgetting is that being in a band is Billy and co's fucking JOB. it's what they do for work. If Billy does want more money, then that's his perogative. The Smashing Pumpkins aren't a relative who died or some shit like that. They are a pretty solid alternative rock band who can break up or come together as they please. KISS and Black Sabbath seem to do so all the time. Nobody the band has any right to dictate what the pumpkins do or don't do. So just stop crying over stupid shit like this and grow up. Go outside or something.

2. I am looking forward to a reunion, and even though I am skeptical about whether or not the reformed band will suck, I know that at least their old albums won't get any worse. If they get too bad, I can always tell people my favorite band is Radiohead and remain a closet pumpkinhead.

well I am myself a fan of James and D'Arcy (my idol and twin sister if I was blonde and white-skinned) but Billy said to Spin Magazine in an interview that his relationships with these two had completely fell apart... besides Melissa Auf Der Maur would sure be Billy's first choice (Hole, hmm...) and if James and him used to be best friends, now Billy's accusing him to be the original band breaker.
I wish I was born ten years earlier, just to see the four original memebers on stage :S
