Annie Hall
Dawn of the Dead ('78)
Crimes and Misdemeanors
La Dolce Vita
The Seventh Seal
Belle de Jour
Three Colors: Red
Cries and Whispers
Ed Wood
Goodfellas

Play it Again Sam
Do The Right Thing
Bringing Up Baby
Bride Wore Black (Truffaut)
Vanilla Sky
Star Trek: First Contact
Run, Lola, Run
Fargo
Dr. Strangelove

This is not a definite 10 but they are 10 of my favorite movies. I tried to make sure that I included one per director only, and a mixture of my favorites from different genres. I noticed I didn't include any film noir in there, but I guess you can only fit so much in a top 10. Three of my favorite film noirs are Touch of Evil, Out of the Past, and The Big Sleep.

The funny thing is that I tend to like more dramas when it comes to film, and more comedies when it comes to television.

Drunkenmaster

Fight Club
Snatch
Great Expectations ('98 or whatever)
The Girl Next Door
Reality Bites
Crossroads (not the fucking Britney Spears movie. The one about Robert Johnson)
Resevoir Dogs
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Lost In Translation
Being John Malkovich

(I apologize in advance for my horrible taste but I'm more or a music guy)

The Princess Bride
Spirited Away
Kill Bill Vol. 1 & 2
The Big Lebowski
Princess Mononoke
Memento
Stand By Me
Good Morning, Vietnam
Flight of the Navigator
Before Sunrise

I guess Kill Bill could count as two, but I DON'T CARE

It was no great shakes - I can't stand the smugness of Charlie Kaufman movies - but I deeply, devoutly love Kate Winslet's Clementine, who is a fair representation of my ideal woman. Which makes it likable.

Kate was totally likeable :) It was the unending praise for a movie I found kind of over-long and not bad but not that great that made me hate it

To the list!

Ed Wood

La Belle Et La Bette
Sunrise (A Song Of Two Humans)
The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari
Withnail & I
The Royal Tenenbaums
Rope
The King Of Comedy

I really like "Rope", the only thing that bothers me is John Dall's overenuciation of dialogue, I am not sure if that is intentional or not though. Royal Tennabaums and Cabinet of Dr. Caligari are pretty good too, not in my top 10, but still good.

I don't usually make a definitive list, but the top four are definitely my top four, always. Some of these are uhh...not elite enough for a lot of you, but whatever! Some of them (Look Who's Talking) are throwbacks from my childhood and I loooove them & watch them everytime they come on TV, but I don't own them.

What's Eating Gilbert Grape
Jaws
Gattaca
Hedwig and the Angry Inch
Look Who's Talking
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
Map of the Human Heart
Forrest Gump
Music From Another Room
Great Expectations

well it's not some profound film or anything but I quite like its moralisation of hell - and 'hell' itself is portrayed in a very stark and disturbing fashion in the movie. I mean, fuck, that clown scene is the fucking creepiest thing ever.

Midnight Run
Terminator 2
The Good, The Bad and the Ugly
The Godfather
Back to the Future
Fight Club
A League of Their Own
Beetlejuice
LotR: Fellowship of the Ring
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

most of these are probably throwbacks to my childhood/adolescence.

I think I could have named at least 5 of those if you're asked me! I'm good. And hey, I managed to see ONE of them at the cinema with you.

goody films:

'songs from the second floor' - because of it's beauty and absurdity

'dogville' - because of its story, skillfull acting and the intelligent way of connecting theatre and cinema.

the celebration - a true masterpiece in every way and one of the most successful dogme films

annie hall - an extremely intelligent movie about relationships andhow they never last.

2001 a space odyssey - a nearly 3 hour long art-film

the kingdom series - well...see it for yourself..

Five obsticles - intelligent about creativity, obsticles and how far one can go to achieve good art.
