IMO, it isn't an earth-shattering, life-chaning record, but there's more than enough to tap your toes to. I like it, I'm glad I bought it.

I have to say that I didn't really care for it.

I have to say I really like most of it.

ARE YOU HOPING FOR A MIRACLE?

not only are the lyrics good, but a lot of the songs have a way of propelling themselves ahead...like, you don't have to wait for them to go somewhere because you can feel that you're already on the way.

maybe that makes sense...

I've recently admitted to myself that I quite like their singles; I'm considering investing in the album.

I have it...I think they are one of the better of the new british guitar bands that are around at the moment...the album is good but it has quite a lot of filler though...

they're great. I love the energy of the music. "So Here We Are" is stunning!

I don't really like what I've heard, and the actual members are pricks.

Bloc Party bore me. When I heard all the students at uni rave about them, I was a bit suspicious. I've only heard the singles admittedly, but I find them all pretty forgettable.

My friend just recently gave me a burned CD to listen to, and I was plesently surprised. I usually don't care for the 80's new wave sound because I find there isn't much going on musically. In this case, Bloc Party have some really well developed songs. Their drummer is top notch, and I think really makes the album what it is.

I agree with Peter, they're not earth shattering, but still very enjoyable.

i listened to them last night after a friend said to listen to them. i found them quite dull and boring. they did nothing for me (out of the 8 songs i downloaded, one called 'banquet' was the only one i enjoyed)

Only about half of "Silent Alarm" (if that) is any good to my ears, and Jonny Greenwood should sue, judging by the guitars on some songs.

and Kele Okereke is a cunt. No other word for him.

For every thread I make about an album on this thread, there are 20 other albums I have that I'm not making a thread about...for instance:

"Unhallowed" by The Black Dahlia Murder
"Poison Arrows" by Communique
"Art Damage" by Fear Before The March of Flames
"Bleed Like Me" by Garbage
and
"The Fire In Our Throats Will Becon The Thaw" by Pelican

At least I don't listen to fucking coheed and cambria...that stuff is fucking trash.

Are you trying to defend yourself or give me more ammo?

Garbage are lame, always have been and always will be. Fear Before The March of Flames are equally pathetic.

Tell us about the other bands you like....such as...uhhh....Franz Ferdinand, The Killers, and Billy Corgan?

Not looking too good for you, chap.

You're a fucking music snob. You know that, right? And worst of all - you're a music snob that likes shitty music but thinks that it's amazing music (even though it's not).

If you're wondering how I'm any different, here it is: I actually LISTEN to every single record people give to me to listen to at least 3 times before deciding whether it's shit or not. Whereas you probably listen to the first three songs and then make your judgment. I even listened to your precious Coheed and Cambria album four times at the recommendation of a friend. My judgment? Overrated bullshit that's been done 8 dozen times by other bands.

YOU CALLING ME A MUSIC SNOB?!?! HAHAHHAHAHH! Hypocritical comment of the year right there, ladies and gents.

I could give a fuck if you listened to the cd's 50 times, saying that you've listened to awful albums over and over again just makes you an idiot. Name the other bands that sound like Coheed, brah'.

Also, that's a pretty weak arguement...seeing as Franz Ferdinand and The Killers are soooooooo original.

I agree with the starting post -- it's a simple, fun record, not anything groundbreaking -- I caught an interview with the guys from the group on MTV2 and their intentions were just that -- make a record that's fun, danceable, and apart from the sewage that that taken over what we call alternative rock these days. They should make it illegal to use that title...

Silent Alarm, I like it. The drums and bass stuff is kickin, and they're all pretty sweet musicians, too.
