It's not always possible but if you can find the song for free on the internet and just post the link then everyone can access the file.
Epitonic and insound both have mp3s available for many groups. Otherwise a musician fan site usually has some mp3s.

Hey Keen Guy:
How do you know such good bands? But more importantly, how do I acquire such knowledge myself?
I like a lot of the bands you've posted here. And two of them Decemberists (I actually got their album yesterday--C&C--sooo good) and Film School I think are awesome. What sites do you check or what do you do to know all this great music?
Anyway... .....and you think he'd tell you. :)
can i request some more left banke?? im in love with ballerina (and walk away of course) so if anyone wants to post more songs of theres that would be awsome. i'd just dl some random ones but you people tend to know the best...

The web is an amazing resource. You can get recommendations all over the place. Amazon.com recommendations, Epitonic.com's related artists, looking at mixes that use bands you like on artofthemix.org and copying down the names of the musicians you don't recognize, goinh to record label websites for bands you own and listen to mp3s for other bands. It doesn't hurt to start up a music review site and get record labels to send you free CDs either.
If you like Film School, the guitarist also has a great solo album. And of course, in keeping with the thread, here's a few tracks from it...

Now it's time for a real treat. Jason Corace, aka A Boy Named Thor, recorded a song a day for 100 days and posted them all on his website (www.boynamethor.com (http://www.boynamethor.com/)). I thought it was a jaw-dropping, fascinating artistic exercise and Corace weilded some great music out of the his perserverance in the face of exhaustion.
I've gone through and created a chronological mix of an album's worth of what I think are some of the best songs. So here you go!
A Boy Named Thor - Songs from Yesterday's Song
01 - Gang Bang Heart (http://a.parsons.edu/~corace/thor/mp3/GangBangHeart.mp3)
02 - Straight Into the Sea (http://a.parsons.edu/~corace/thor/mp3/StraightintotheSea.mp3)
03 - No Patience (http://a.parsons.edu/~corace/thor/mp3/nopatience.mp3)
04 - Ginger Pt. 3 (http://a.parsons.edu/~corace/thor/mp3/Gingerpt3.mp3)
05 - No Good Names (http://a.parsons.edu/~corace/thor/mp3/NoGoodNames.mp3)
06 - Blind Spots (http://a.parsons.edu/~corace/thor/mp3/BlindSpots.mp3)
07 - Decordova (http://a.parsons.edu/~corace/thor/mp3/Decordova.mp3)
08 - Untitled (http://a.parsons.edu/~corace/thor/mp3/Untitled.mp3)
09 - The Theme to the Plot to Kill Grandmother (http://a.parsons.edu/~corace/thor/mp3/TheThemeToThePlot.mp3)
10 - City Lights and Dancing (http://a.parsons.edu/~corace/thor/mp3/CityLightsAndDancing.mp3)
11 - Your Two Knees (http://a.parsons.edu/~corace/thor/mp3/YourTwoKnees.mp3)
12 - Tiny Wires (http://a.parsons.edu/~corace/thor/mp3/TinyWires.mp3)
13 - Waters Rise (http://a.parsons.edu/~corace/thor/mp3/WatersRise.mp3)
14 - Perfect Numbers (http://a.parsons.edu/~corace/thor/mp3/PerfectNumbers.mp3)
15 - Generations (http://a.parsons.edu/~corace/thor/mp3/Generations.mp3)
16 - Pile Up (http://a.parsons.edu/~corace/thor/mp3/PileUp.mp3)
17 - Hand Drawn Lines (http://a.parsons.edu/~corace/thor/mp3/HandDrawnLines.mp3)
18 - Wonderful Ways (http://a.parsons.edu/~corace/thor/mp3/WonderfulWays.mp3)
By the way, if you just want to try out one or two, I'd say that "Straight Into the Sea" and "Untitled" are my personal favorites.

Oh i LOVE Lusk!! I think this all starts w/ the band Failure. Failure breaks up, which gives way to Lusk, the Replicants, ON, and Year of the Rabbit. Then Lusk breaks up, making way for Autolux, and now in addition to Autolux, Greg Edwards is also working w/ Paul D'Amore of Tool (and Matt Mahaffey of Self, mentioned above) in Feersum Ennjin. :-D

Yes, this band sounds like a Spoon rip-off, but I've listened to this album more than the leak of the acutal Spoon album.

Hard to choose, but this is probably my current favorite off of the leaked Fiona Apple album. Jon Brion is all over this track.

i cant find any mp3s online of their latest CD, but ill use this thread to promote a GREAT new swedish band called "Moneybrother". Their new CD is called "To Die Alone" and every single US label is trying to contract them at the moment, but Swedish as they are they aint signing anything so far.
The music is kinda big and orchestral, and its happy.. upbeat.. folky, please check out this album when you can. (im sharing it on soulseek)
