there have been double-blind placebo-controlled studies that have shown that prayer is significantly associated with positive health outcomes. i am not religous, i actually learned this from a professor of epidemiology at columbia university's school of public health.

This ain't right. Once Miss Bailey reads this thread, she's gonna feel silly that we were all so worried. She's going to be fine. She's way too cool, too sexy, and too funny to be sick. Studies have shown that when you are all three (cool, sexy, and funny) it's impossible for you to be either injured or sick. So...she's got to be fine (and I mean that in both the "girl, you fine!" and "my health is good" ways).

I am going to say some prayers for Miss Bailey for some OTHER reasons....not because she's sick....which I just EXPLAINED she can't be. :)

Apparently she has a blood clot in her lungs. They are going to give her blood thinners and whatnot to get it fixed. She's probably gonna be in the hospital for a few days.

She sounded ok...all things considered. I only got to talk to her for a minute or so.

I dunno what to do :(

Thank you Mr. Murphy. That's quite a relief. I'm sure she'll be fine if they caught it this early and she's on thinners now. This happened to two of my friends and they were both fine.

i think the results of double blind studies u mentioned (assuming they are accurate and truly representative) showing 'prayer' helping, are evidence that merely THINKING on something can influence a result.

i hereby apply my weak and underdeveloped mental powers in unison with you all, to the task of ensuring ms bailey is ok!

Don't know if you've tried this, but maybe try just asking for her room instead of whether or not she's there? I've noticed that at least here when I ask for a friend's room, I usually get transferred to it (if they're there), but if I ask if someone is at the hospital they won't tell me.

Due to "adverse weather conditions" in Amsterdam, my flight was cancelled and I couldn't get another one, so I won't be able to check on Bailey after all... however, I did talk to her earlier, and she sounded better and said they're probably going to let her out of the hospital tomorrow.

i'm glad that she is getting better and is to be released, but going home doesn't mean she is 100% better.

she's not been in amsterdam long and may not know many people.....i hope she has someone reliable close by who can help her and check in on her.
