hi guys

im so thankful today because i got to talk to elliott's dad :) he is a really sweet person. i :heart: him a lot. he reminds me of elliott so much that he is really nice and kind. i appreciate it so much that i got to talk to him.

while we were talking, we talked about sharing/trading elliott's music and he thought it was important to mention it was ok to share or trade elliott's music because elliott believed people should be able to trade musically with each other and that the family feels the same.

im sorry i wished i could say the exact way but i was so nervous like i would be with elliott. anyway im so thankful he shared that with us.

I'm glad you were able to speak with Elliott's dad. It's so cool that you have such open communication with his family. It's obvious they trust you, which is wonderful.

From what I've read about Elliott's dad, he is very similar to him. That's neat that you picked up on it too.

Please do let Mr. Smith (a.k.a. Dad) know that there has been an overwhelming response to trading live Elliott shows on soulseek. More and more folks are building up miniature archives of countless live mp3's (some better quality than others) of memorable gigs, to share with the world.

It's definitely a beautiful thing, knowing that the spirit of Elliott lives on the net and in our hearts!

that definately is very cool to hear, i'm glad you shared it with us.

SOULSEEK IT IS.

soulseek does kinda suck at times, where it's impossible to view some people's files, and i haven't found any answer to that. but its really the best way to get elliott audio, i've seen. there really is a lot of audio out there, and thats a good thing, in my mind, at least. and theres a lot of nice people in that room too, i've seen so far. got like 13 gigs of total elliott audio on there (live, cds, interviews, video files, ect) and my nick is stidesheaven. rock on.

i'm just going to repeat everyone else, but i actually do feel so happy that you got to meet elliott's dad, i still feel so sad when i think about elliott, knowing that you spoke with his dad, somehow makes me feel slightlybetter, knowing, i guess, that he took an interest, a real interest- in the things that his son felt were so important, that he understood these things, that's what makes me feel better, i have no idea whther they're similar or not, but it was his dad who had those copies of beatles albums etc etc that elliott got hooked on so early on, so i guess there must be something.

:) thank you all. i dont know what to say. i apprecaite it all. well...this is one of the hardest things i've ever done honestly. im nervous because many of you know how i felt about having mp3s on sweet adeline but hopefully this will warm someone's heart because i think gary knows how much elliott and elliott's music means to us, so thank you to the whole family and elliott for letting us share. here is a another version of pretty mary k from either/or sessions. its my favorite version. its so beautiful. i hope you havent heard this version before. please enjoy

i was once at a flaming lips show and one of their gigantic confetti-filled balloons came floating down over my head. i BUMPed it so high... so high into the room that it hit a chandelier hanging from the ceiling, and it burst, burst wide apart.... one little BUMP from me and it burst wide open, spilling confetti flavored love all over us..... so much of it fell on a gentleman standing near me and he said "my name's charlie..." and i said.. there's something about his vocal on this song that just gives me the chills. He sounds like he's on a telephone at 3 a.m., trying to sing as quietly as possible so he won't wake someone up.

the only reason I can think of for his leaving it off "either/or" is that the guitar-picking style is sort of similar to "angeles" and perhaps he thought the two songs sounded too similar.

It couldn't be for a lack of quality, though - this song absolutely stands up to the rest of "either/or."

I can't listen to "Everything's Okay." It is the most horrible, painful experience. There is a terribly noisy crowd (including someone who keeps SCREAMING), the sound system keeps crapping out, and Elliott is having a hard enoug htime remembering the lyrics and playing the song on top of that. He says he really wants to finish the song, but it's clear he's never going to...

but there's no sound
it is not muted

Hey,

I asked on the board last week i think it was about (thread was called "dvd's that buzz". weird. I know) someone burning some Elliott videos and stuff for me. I basically got ignored except for one reply which was ultimately useless in what I asked originally.

I have this DVD program on the computer which burns different things to disks, and the numerous times i've tried the sound has never loaded on properly for some reason way beyond my knowledge of computers which isn't so much.
So, I have wasted some good dvds, and I can only watch various Elliott comcerts/video clips on the computer, when I would rather have them on disk.

I know this thread is about sharing/trading songs, but I really would love for someone to burn various clips and stuff to dvd for me if their burner works if it is not too much trouble asking. I am more than happy to send the disks or pay money for you to do them if you want. it's just that i really, realllllllllllly want these to have.

I'm really sorry if i'm being a pest asking about this, but believe me, I wouldn't be asking if my dvd burner done what it was supposed to do.

while we were talking, we talked about sharing/trading elliott's music and he thought it was important to mention it was ok to share or trade elliott's music because elliott believed people should be able to trade musically with each other and that the family feels the same.

im sorry i wished i could say the exact way but i was so nervous like i would be with elliott. anyway im so thankful he shared that with us.

I have a question for you if you're still haunting these parts. I'm putting together a fansite, and I want to make sure I don't run afoul of anyone. Can you suggest a way to get in touch with the estate so I can make sure that there's no confusion later down the line?
