nora, i love you like a fellow poster but I have no idea what anyone sees in luke wilson. he's just been tagging along in the shadow of his brother. I mean sure...his bit role in rushmore and...well bigger role in the royal t's was cool, but look at the rest of the stuff on his resume really makes you think. home fries? that 70's show (the worst show on earth?) other lame movies?

but then again i'm being an asshole tonight, so it's all good.

i liked the bit in legally blonde when reese witherspoon says "i am perfect comfortably using legal jargon in my every day life!" then someone whistles at her and she says "I OBJECT!"

i thought legally blonde was very insulting to brunettes.

i had the misfortune of sitting through the sweetest thing last night. lamest movie ever.

Meet the Parents rocks!

I just watched a movie called "Roger Dodger," kind of a drama where this smart sensitive 16 year old goes to his "ladies man" uncle to help him learn how to score with the ladies. He more or less learns his uncle is a sick sick man.

I just saw Bruce Almighty. It was kinda cute and had some really genuinely funny moments, but I had to kind of watch it outside of myself because I don't believe in religion and there's a fair amount of basic do-unto-others type stuff in the film. Which, of course, is fitting and was completely inoffensive, just not something I can personally relate to. But anyway.

The soundtrack sucked and the score was overbearing at times, but the movie itself exceeded my expectations. Jim Carrey was very funny and Morgan Freeman was spot-on. Jennifer Aniston was sweet without being too cloying.

I'd give it 3.5 stars out of 5 for pure entertainment value.

I watched Adaptation last night

I normally hate nicolas cage, but he was actually very good in this role. Very pathetic...so pathetic it was hilarious...and kind of relatable for me; always wimping out of conversations, especially with girls i like.

Chris Cooper was really good also. I loved the whole "fuck fish" sequence.
-----------

Ghost World I thought was great, except a lot of the acting was awkward (i.e. the two main girls)...or so i thought. Buschemi was gold though

last movie you saw,again...implys that I should have seen the movie once before at least.....erm.....well it's Sweet and Lowdown which I saw last night, and how I dream of being an obnoxious jazz guitarist. only bettered by a gypsy in france...! I do like this film...

I have actually seen legally blonde, in a cunning move to because with my reputation I could not be seen to actually rent it myself..., so I was at my sisters and she had a movie rented on the side, so I asked her what it was, she answered legally blonde! so of course I say I am passing the video shop, I'll drop it back for you, she thanks me for my kindness, I come home, put the kettle on, open a bag of doritos, sit back and enjoy!! :-D

the best is that blockbuster have a quick drop system, this shoot you put your videos down so I could drop it off without embarassment too!!!

Today I saw "One Hour Photo" featuring Robin Williams. I thought Williams' character wasn't fully developed; the voice-overs did little to really explain the motivation for his actions. Additionally, I felt as if I had seen this character played out in other movies by better (dramatic) actors propelled by far superior scripts.

Despite that, the movie creeped me out enough about having my pictures developed at the local photoshop. I think I'll be sending my film to Rocco from now on. :scared:

last night i watched the matrix (the first one) again for the third time in just over a week. i never saw it when it came out, but now i'm hooked. i read the script a couple of days ago, and it's really interesting to see the bits that didn't make it into the film. there's part of the dialogue with cypher that neo has, when cypher askes 'did he tell you why he did it', that got cut that explains a lot - i.e. the fact that Morpheus had thought that five people before Neo were the one, but that each one of them died.

hm, sorry... i'm really into the matrix right now. it's a damn fine film, and the more i watch it the more i think that keanu is not actually a bad actor. one's habitual reaction to him is 'oh god, he's crap, he can't emote at all' but actually, that's bullshit. he's not a bad actor at all - when you start watching his reactions to other people, his facial expressions and stuff, (especially when reflected in morpheus' sunglasses) and you *stop* thinking of him as keanu-the-crap, you start to realise that he's actually pretty damn good in this movie.

this is not to say that he was good in other films, but in this one, i think he's fucking great.

not to mention fit as hell.

i'm gonna get to go see matrix reloaded next weekend. seven more days... oh yes!

I watched Zardoz again last weekend. I love that movie, but the VHS of it was really dreadful. The pan and scan was so bad that whole scenes made no sense.

I had forgotten just how gorgeous the titles arrangement of the Allegretto from Beethoven's 7th symphony was. I had somehow failed to notice in previous viewings that it was the work of David Munrow, who committed suicide a few years after the movie was made, in 1976. Gorgeous arrangement for counter-tenor and organ.

I saw Hulk today. It was a lot better than I thought it would be, but I'm a comic geek so I was biased going in. the CGI looked a lot better in action than in the pictures I've seen, where I thought Hulk himself looked really stupid. He actually looks very good in the movie. The story is great as well, a little slow at the beginning, but I thought it was very well done overall.

anyway it turns out to be the best boxing game that money can buy...superb graphics...great sound...the playability is ace 2...you can do a movie career where you follow the main lines in the movie and it's just loads of fun...and I'm not even a big fan of fighting games.

I don't normally do this on my own, but tonight I popped in "The Rock".. I've been entertained by this movie.. It's kind of fun..

But what I noticed this time around is that "Armageddon" is "The Rock" in space.. Oh how I loathe Michael Bay..

Ringu

(With my sister and her friend. They kept hiding behind couch pillows whispering "This is scary" which kinda freaked me out more than the movie. Oh yeah, and the backwards film/sounds. eeeeep.)

i think i've seen that. is that the one with a burning house scene? if it is, i think it was a precursor to David Lynch's Lost Highway, which has a burning house, is similar noir, etc.

last night kirk and i watched
THE GRIFTERS
i'd seen it when i was 17 but forgot the cactual story and only remembered that it had been disturbing. it's still disturbing! angelica huston looks super old in it but throughout the movie is referenced as looking very young..what gives? and annetee ebnning is supe rannoying,as her character is meant to be but she is always annoying..anyhow

on saturday we attempte dto watch QUADROPHENIA but had to quit about half way into it(if that) we just couldn't be bothered to focus on it..it was too slow,pointless..and well..slow.
