Hi Folks

Just looking for your advice and help.

I'm a music journalists (freelance) from Russia, Novosibirsk, West Siberia, and I'm going to visit Portland about 5-10, July in order to write a story about the City of one of my favorite artists Elliott Smith - "the Last Great American Music Poet" as I called him in one of my articles.

And of cause I would like to meet with someone who was ES' friend or close to him - to talk about ES, his music, about his Portland and his LA, about his fuckin' strange death, about what happening with America today, about American Beauty and the loss of it and so on.

Maybe you'll help me or give me an advice? For example, I would like a lot to meet with Sean Croghan, ES roommate and very good musician from Portland. I can even change my itinerary and visit LA (which is not in my schedule now) for one day, sorry, not more 'cos this US-trip is expensive for me especially hotel prices.

Also I would like to buy ES' vinyl (Roman Candle, Elliott Smith, Either/Or, From a Basement on the Hill, XO, Figure 8) and CD "A Brief History".

I will be very grateful for someone who help me and will became my Portland’s (LA’s) guide. By the way I've got gifts for this person - bottle of real Russian vodka  and CD of best Russian punk-folk poet Yegor Letov (he died this Fabruary) and his group "Grazdanskaya Oborona" (Civil Defense). Here is one of his best songs "Everything is going in accordance with Plan" (anti-bolsheviks and anti-corporative combat anthem of Russian youth in late 80-th and 90-th):kill::

Here is Russian symphonic orchestra Maestro which plays the music of the same song

I don't think I can help, but that was an amusing post/thread title
And that vodka sounds good, too! :drunk:

Maybe some Portland people can help you. There are quite a few on the board.

Hi Folks

Today is October, 20. It's about 23 F (minus 5 C) in my hometown, Novosibirsk, Siberia, Russia. This summer I spent an american month, Washington DC, San-Diego, Las Vegas, San Francisco, LA, Seattle. With my old friend made trip from SD to LA see the Wall. God bless the people who care about this beautiful place. Bought 3 Elliott's LPs, saw Widespread Panic live at San Diego, was missing Fleet Foxes twice (SD and Seatle).

This night will wright short story "Travelling with Elliott" for one of local news agencies called Siberia.
