Hi,

So I downloaded a copy of MS Word, from a sketchy source, about 5 years ago. It worked great for about 3 years. THen about 2 years ago it started giving me some message like "insert CD, need to update," (or maybe "we have a feeling you're using a pirated copy but we're not sure). If I kept hitting "cancel" real fast it would get me through that beaurocratic bullshit and I got the goods.

But yesterday that workaround stopped working around. Now it'll open the files but it won't let me type or make new files or anything. What do I do?? I don't want to pay $229 for that crap. But I have stuff I need to do!

Open Office should fix any problems that you might have (free and not too bad) - http://www.openoffice.org/

If you really need Word 2007 (open office should be able to handle all of your typing needs), just pm. :pinkeleph

Thanks! That should work fine.

One question: Do you know how to make it stop auto-completing the words I'm typing? I was looking through options but couldn't find it.

Try this:

From the Menu - Tools > AutoCorrect > Word Completion
Disable "Enable Word Completion"

Cheers.

Did Word ever used to come with computers for free?

I seem to remember a time when they did, but I could be mistaken. I have a mac. I dealt with TextEdit and some off-brand bullshit before finally buckling down and getting word, from someone on blamo!

WordPad is the freebie, no MS Word.

I just use OpenOffice on my laptop. Does the job.

wrong place but im using word 07 or whatever and its an annoying bitch,it changed the whole layout. The old one was not perfect but through use it became second nature,if they managed to make it more intuitive i'd be a ok but its just shit

well fucking annoying
