Charlie, is it true that you're the one who uploaded these online? Do you possess the original cassette with these songs on them?

If so... would you be interested in letting someone do a new transfer and uploading them in lossless format? :)

I know that's a lot to ask, but I'm just sort of wondering. Not to sound unappreciative, but a generated cassette converted into 128kbps MP3 results in pretty bad sound quality. Obviously this would be up to you, but I'd be up to doing a new transfer and uploading the songs in lossless format. I'm not sure if this becomes an issue with the family (I'm not sure how it was handled the first time) or if you'd be up to letting someone do this.

No rush and no pressure at all.

Thank you soooooo much for making this thread! I'll second the notion that there is certainly interest in the lossless versions of the songs.

Charlie, I would also like to add that even if you don't feel comfortable lending your original copy of the tape, even a second-generation copy would be fine too. with that said do you have any idea who was behind the "Place Pigalle demos" leak and if it would be at all possible for those to also be re-transferred?

RDZ--I'm guessing you have some quality transferring equipment and you have experience in doing tape transfers, but do you have access to Nakamichi tape decks? From transfers that I have downloaded/traded for in the past, Nak'd transfers usually do the best job. Just a suggestion if you are fortunate enough to be able to tackle this. seeing as you're in Illinois maybe I might be able to find a decent deck and let you borrow it, I live in the Chicagoland area. Let me know.

Yeah...I agree with the other folks. This stuff needs to be archived to lossless. I'd be happy to throw my hat in to transfer and host the files once they're completed.

Oh....and Charlie...I know I promised this to you over two years ago, but better later than never. More Grandaddy than you may ever need:

Feel free to email me if you'd like to discuss getting these files to lossless.
