If you think Huckabee is in the lead, especially "by far" you really don't know what the heck is happening. And one republican? I think it's safe to assume between Hillary/Obama on the democratic side, but boy, the republican nomination is wide open.
And I doubt anyone except you on this board would vote for an evangelical nutcase like Huckabee.

So, why is it that for all the grandstanding about the war in Iraq we're ignoring candidates with actual experience with foreign affairs or military experience or people who just have experience period? If you were the be all power and you had to hire someone to be president, wouldn't you want someone who's qualified rather than someone you feel will represent you? It's not the president's job to see that your interests are tended to, it's their job to see that the country is run well.

I think Huckabee is cool.
As a person.
Mostly because he smiles and goes on Colbert.

Right, but still people are off looking in the wrong directions. People are fascinated by Huckabee having Chuck Norris at his speeches and Obama doing crack 10000 years ago and Hillary being a crazy psychobitch. And if they're not fascinated by that they're fascinated by the fact that Huckabee was a pastor or that Obama is a Muslim or that Hillary is Bill's wife.
I mean, I'm at least partially talking out my ass here because I'll be a week to young to vote and therefore haven't paid as much attention as maybe I should, but I'd be surprised to learn that Obama and Hillary are the most qualified that the Democrats have to offer or that Romney and Huckabee are the most qualified the Republicans have to offer.

hence why representative republics only pretend to work...

if this board is a clear cross-section of American democratic sentiment (which i bet to a certain extent it is, though not 100% perfect), Barack looks like he's in a good position to at least lead the dems, if not the country (which i hope for).
I'm Canadian, so my voice doesn't really count for much here, but seriously: register to vote; don't let another Bush slip into office cause you're too busy lined up to see the new Harry Potter movie.

Well, as long as stupid people vote to eliminate themselves, there's hope that one day they'll be gone. No government really works though, they can only really try to work. I think when all is said and done though, we actually do a pretty good job of it. I don't feel the squeeze on a day to day basis, and when I do it's usually more of a local thing than a federal thing. The federal thing is certainly poking its nose where it doesn't belong though (what happened to state police power, right?).

Repeat for probably the hundredth time, but I haven't seen an answer!
Why Huckabee over McCain or Romney when you say you're going for those candidates who "are winning" or whatnot? And I like Edwards (though not as much as Obama), but has he won a primary yet?
Ok I read too much into this silly thing. :X

Where am I? I already voted. Although I agree that it's puzzling who was and wasn't selected to be in this poll.
Best case scenario is that Barack Obama wins the primary running against both Hillary Clinton and former President Bill Clinton, because then he'll be certain to win in November. He will not only consolidate but envigorate the left, drawing out new voters in the thousands in a way that Clinton cannot, and pulling in independents and Republicans in a way she cannot.
Worst case scenario is that the Clintons are successful in their effort to stymie the groundswell of support for the Obama campaign, thereby winning the Democratic nomination by depressing the Democratic vote, and making it as difficult as it could possibly be for the Democrats to take either the White House or a veto-proof majority in the Congress.

unfortunately this is a very left leaning board of not just americans
if the world got to vote for the american president, a conservative would never be voted in. unfortunately... even though america bombs, steals and destroys any place in the world it feels like, international views dont apply.

so...when America bombs and goes to war with other countries,
shouldn't those countries be able to vote for the candidate that is least likely to do these things? :)
