erm, they're kinda magnificent. stratch that. ridiculously magnificent.
BE music is really fucking amazing songwriting (conor oberst) coated in an overdose of talented musicians (mike mogis, nate walcott, ect.).
I'm gonna suggest that you listen to Fevers & Mirrors first. You might hate it though. Whether you like it or not, you need to check out Lifted. You'll most likely be hooked after Lifted.

If I'm ever feeling down, I can listen to him and realise someone's life sucks more then mine.

I don't think thischarmlessjew's referring to Conor's life in particular. I can relate to his/her point. For example:
"No, I’m serious. My mother drowned one every year for five consecutive years. They were all named Padraic, so thats-they all got one song."
It’s obvious that these lyrics are not based on real happenings. But there are people out there who are so fucked up in the head that they kill people. What's more sad/terrifying than that??
What I’m trying to say is:
I think Conor’s incentive with those lyrics (if he had any at all) was to help people who were feeling sorry for themselves. He's saying that there's always somebody out there who has it a lot worse that you.

Okay. That's fair.
