I'm a brand-new member, so please forgive me if this question has been asked ad nauseum.
So I'm wondering if you know what kind of microphones Elliott would use in the studio, in particular during the X/O and Either/Or sessions.
Thanks guys!

If you dig around the Larry Crane thread, he mentions some mics Elliott used during the Either/Or sessions.

Thanks guys!
I only asked 'cause I'm gonna have the chance to use a studio soon, and I thought I'd try to have some idea of what to use.

I know he purchased a langevin (don't recall the model) when he was in heatmiser and used it on a lot of either/or. I believe I got that info from Larry Crane's Tape Op interview with him.

Elliott's main acoustic guitar tones were either his red label 70's Yamaha or a variety of Gibson J-45s or J-50s. I know he was mostly using a stereo pair of Shure SM81mics up through Either/Or. Larry Crane also favors the Audix SCA-25A's on acoustic guitar and piano. For vocals on Miss Misery and songs of that era he had a Langevin that has since been re-packaged and is called the CR-2001 by Manley audio. Add some analog tape to record it to and you should be getting close, but as with any great musician you can have their gear and record in their studio but you're not going to sound like them. These mics are great for any type of acoustic recording. Also try to have a variety of picks on hand, the type used can make a huge difference in your recorded sound.
