Any more word on that new song?

I recall Larry finding an unheard solo song from the Heatmiser era, and it would be released on a charity CD compilation a few months ago. I haven't heard anything new regarding that, and was wondering what was up... I coulda sworn the CD was gonna be released around Christmas or at least winter...

It's going to be on the Live From Nowhere Near You compilation, and it was pushed back to (I believe) first quarter 2008.

There is only one Elliott song on it, but it is unreleased and as far as we know "unheard". There's no way to know if it's already leaked or not, but since it'll be an official release I look forward to it, as it will undoubtedly be of higher quality.

Larry said that the song has not been leaked or heard in any form by fans. Something totally new like "All Cleaned Out" was before New Moon.

He said it was considered for New Moon, but he and Elliott's family didn't think it would work or fit in the context of New Moon, so they gave it to these people for the compilation album.

nah its not suicide machine/tiny time machine, Mr Crane knows well enough that those have been leaked and heard. i remember him talking about it, i think he said it sounded a bit not-elliott. i think it was an instrumental and it was kind of a different sound than most of his recordings, so it might be a little.. weird, to hear, if you are very specific about the music you listen to.

there is a thread regarding this that pops up from time to time with some information and updates, if you go to the main elliott smith forum and search threads for 'LFNNY' it will come up with the thread for the LFNNY compilation cd which we are talking about, just to let you know, that one seems to get updated whenever theres some news.

yes, it will most likely have nationwide distribution.
if not best buy specifically, it will be at other retailers like it.

still working on the album, its taking longer than i expected and i apologize for that.
but on the other hand, this thing needs to be the best that i can make it...
for the charity, for the music fans, for all involved, and for myself.

and, correct, it is not an instrumental.
larry is right when he says that it is not elliott like though.
that doesn't mean that its weird and experimental,
it has a normal song structure to it, melodies, solos...
its just not a song that sounds much like any other elliott stuff.

Cecilia Amanda doesn't sound much like any other Elliott stuff either, and it's fantastic, so i'm sure this one will be a jewel, too. The fact that we're going to get to have the experience of hearing a new Elliott song for the first time (at least this once more) is very, very exciting. Thanks for the update, Kevin.
