i went into the other forum yesterday to ask a question about the figure 8 wall, and the forum was complete spam!

so anyway, to my question: do you know if they are repainting the wall or no? i realize this is a very standard question you get a lot, but i might be going to LA in the next couple months and if anyone is interested, I would LOVE to help repaint the wall.

Now all we need is a place to put all those "guyz check out my half-finished instrumental version of [insert elliott song here - usually Angeles] that I just uploaded to myspace" thread.

Seriously, those threads shit me. Just put them in the one place. I don't want to hear anyone's cover of Elliott, especially instrumental/half finished ones.

yeah it was bad and that is why we got this new one thanks to aaron :) but i havent heard anything official. i know a good number of fans want to do it but i am sure there is a few things that need to straighten out like permission to do it from solutions and cost and so much more. a lot of details to consider. hopefully one day it can be organized to repaint the wall back to it's formal glory.

Hey Charlie, While I was visiting sweetadeline.net earlier this week, I happened to notice that you added some really cute thumbnail photos to the biography page! Yay! What great shots you chose. I thought having the images there really helped add some extra texture to what was there. You're the best!

No promises but reading Autumn's book is making me think of offering to add an Epilogue section to the Biography. If I do write it, I'll email it to you as usual and you will have complete carte blanche to add it or reject it, as you see fit.

Thanks so much for keeping the pages up! And hope you're having a fun Winter.

i thought it was amazing. when i first got it, it was a pretty emotional to see elliott's pictures. it was funny to see too because it showed elliott's humorous side. i loved that autumn was able to talk to some of elliott's loved ones. the stories were great. i was surprised they talked a little about the hard times. i dont think i had any epiphanies though. just made me miss elliott. what did you think?

2. having to make tough decisions when it comes to something on the board like banning people or deleting things. getting in between stuff can be really hard. i dont like drama so much.

hi steve,
you hadn't seen that til now? :) i'm happy you like them. i thought it would be fun to do that when i did the redesign again. i had fun picking out the pictures to match what you wrote about and try to add a little humor in some place like the football picture hehe. but looking at elliott doesn't hurt the story at all hehe. but oh cool. i know, no promises, but that would be awesome to have an epilogue. it would be a hard to write but i would welcome it because i know you would having a loving approach to it even though it will be about the hard times. but of course. i could never take the bio off the site! its another example of how much people loved elliott! well i hope you are doing well and keeping warm!

hi!
oh i just play guitar for a hobby. im not good at all. just for fun. but the first time i met elliott was may 18, 1998. elliott played bottom of the hill in san francisco. after the show, a friend of mine and i saw a chance to bug him for an autograph. he was kind enough to put his beer down and ask for my name. i got my copy of division day 7" signed and he to wrote 'to charlie <3 elliott' i think i said thanks for playing and he said 'sure' anyway he was total gentleman. i was really worried because i was reading articles at the time about how he got into a few fights, so i didnt want to get him mad and of course he meant so much to me, i was really worried he might be too rock star to talk to me. but he was the opposite of all that and it meant so much to have a chance to meet him. i really appreciate his kindness and truthfully because of that experience, sweet adeline exists :) take care!

Charlie,
First of all, thanks for everything you do around here. Its wonderful!

I was wondering if you knew why Domino isn't pressing/repressing Roman Candle? For XO and Figure 8 I know the rights are the issue with Dreamworks, but it seems to me that that wouldn't be an issue with Roman Candle. What gives?

thank you so much, i appreciate that :) but i'm not sure. i don't know if there was an agreement of some sort about being able to release more after a certain period with domino. i know at one point elliott was no longer considered an artist on domino anymore. it was only until from a basement on the hill there was a connection again. with bongload and dreamworks, i am not sure what that agreement was too and especially considering rob is no longer a part of the bongload label anymore. i know elliott's estate is aware about vinyl issues but i think they want to make sure the legal issues is taking care of first. hopefully it can be resolved that there might be more freedom to do stuff like rereleasing the out of print stuff like the records you mentioned at least. i hope that helps.

Well, I suppose I ought to put this in the Autumn's Book thread in the other part of the forum but I really enjoyed the book and I'm grateful to Autumn and everyone for participating and putting it together. I would have liked a bit more info on the photos but I loved seeing them - the book is really beautiful. The stories helped me to balance funny-Elliott, fierce-Elliott and sweet-thoughtful-Elliott in my mind. I'd always kinda had trouble "seeing" him before. But I also thought that a lot of interviewees sounded deeply saddened by Elliott - not even by what happened to him in the end but by the way he hurt them and by the way their relationships with him fell apart. That made me sad as well, because I know Elliott really wanted to be seen as something more than just a troubled, problematic person but it seems like that's what he left everyone with -- lots of happy memories under a tremendous cloud.

So those were my discoveries, anyway.

oh yeah that would've been fun to see stories behind the photos. chris buck does that on his site sometimes. it's really interesting to read that. that is why i kinda liked that the interviews talked and foreword talked about autumn and her approach because it was kinda going behind the scenes. it's actually kinda hard to talk about the sad moments from the interviewees. i don't know what to say about that other than it's sad to read. in the end, you know they loved him a lot even through those experiences. man i wish i could go to the portland exhibit in jan!

The guy who painted it, Stephon, isn't motivated to repaint it, or have it repainted, but would probably yield if enough people requested to. Also a fresh coat of paint will likely be graffiti bait.
