I think they really have 5 that are freaking awesome, the trilogy, Wish, and Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me.

I voted for Bloodflowers but really all five of those are so great in their own way.

Disintegration, followed by Pornography, with Faith coming in third. The rest of them I haven't bothered to listen to, because I like the Cure, just not enough to listen to all of their material. I really, really like the Acoustic greatest hits they came out with a while back. I easily listen to that more than any other

Wish, then Disintegration. MA is right tho, those five are all awesome.

And I also enjoy the acoustic greatest hits CD as well.

First an RE thread now one about The Cure...how delightful.

Like REM, The Cure are a band in which every word sung and every note played, I can relate to in someway and I'm move in so many different ways. The music is very personal to me.

Their only dud album is Three Imaginary Boys. Their second album, Seventeen Seconds, is where that magic starts. I even like Wild Mood Swings and think that it is gravely miss-understood. The lyrics on it are some of Robert's best.

I voted Bloodflowers, as it is just beautiful and sad and over run with sincere emotion about the ending of a relationship (in this case, the break-up of the band...which never occured as Robert had so much fun on the proceeding Dream Tour). The music was influenced by Mogwai, and it shows on the drawn out structures of Out Of This World, The Last Day Of Summer, Bloodflowers...guitars and piano intertwine with one another.

This is Robert and Roger's album.

yeah thanks to these two threads i decided i felt like downloading a couple of live soundboard early-era shows from these bands. 1985-09-20 Cure and 1982-04-24 REM.

In the words of Kyle Broflovski "Disintegration is the best album ever!"

although, i agree. it's all about the trilogy. i even have a dvd of them playing all three of them in one concert

So do I...and I watch it often...one of the best concert films I've seen...I'm amazed that they got through it...especially considering the intensity of each album.

Then they finish it off with If Only Tonight...and The Kiss.

i know. it's such a good recording. the whole "see you in 7/19 years" thing was a little cheesy, but i kind of laughed too. seriously great stuff though

:D I have the trilogy DVD too. If we all got to meet we could nerd it up and watch it together.

And my fave Bloodflowers song is Watching Me Fall, 'tis one of the Cure's sexiest moments.

My faves off Bloodflowers are the title track, Out Of This World, The Last Day Of Summer, and There Is No If.

I voted Disintegration, but it was really hard to decide amongst Seventeen Seconds, Faith, and Pornography. They're all the "best" to me.

As long as we're talking Bloodflowers, "The Loudest Sound" reduces me to tears and soft goo.

I agree with you...the song is heartbreaking!

I listened to a live version of Bloodflowers earlier today...stunning!

I would so love a Trilogy love-in.

I used to watch it back at uni with my Cure friend, Ben.

We would close the curtains, sit on the bed in one of our rooms, drink vodka and coke, and watch Trilogy from start to end. Tears were often shed. Good times.

I'd prefer red wine or gin and tonics...but hey....it could be all BYOAlcohol.
sounds like something that needs to be done!

^ JW is kind of a reverse album... the singles on it were released as singles before the album, and JW is basically just a compilation of those albumless singles and their b-sides. I still consider it an album though, but strictly speaking, it's a compilation.

Anyway... I voted for Wish. Wish, Head On the Door, and Bloodflowers are all great albums. Pornography, Faith, and Wild Mood Swings are quite good. Everything else is a little hit or miss for me, and I have trouble listening to the rest of their albums all the way through (esp. Disintegration, to be honest... it drags on and on).
