Recently bought:
Fender Hot Rod Deluxe (I love it)
Yamaha MM6 keyboard...
... OMG! I love the keyboard. My old one broke (box dropped on it), and I was bummed about needing to get a new one, but whatever, I did (for piano, strings, and some basic drum shit). And I'm so happy! It's pretty cheap, but it's so great! Drum tracks with 4 patterns and fills each, as well as god knows how many individual kits. Also, I never thought I'd use the arpeggio function but it's basically all I use. I can get all sorts of Eno-esque squeals and beeps and dreamy flutters! And the harp sound actually sounds like a harp!!! It's like a bonafide synth that I can actually afford! Also came with Cubase.
Wanting:
Fender Thinline Tele
a fucking mic stand!!!
Getting rid of:
I was gonna get rid of my Acoustasonic Jr. until I got the MM6. But not anymore.

- The black Big Muffs are Russian made. Not saying there's anything wrong with that, but why that particular model? I heard they're not as good as the traditional American manufactured models.
- The guy who invented the ebow (because it's patented there's only one brand) said he's going to take a break from making them for a while so unless you want to wait or spend twice the price on ebay, good luck.

cheaper, and since i don't normally use distortion/fuzz, i wanted to be sure that i liked it
i know, i was extreamly pissed off when i heard about the ebows. the dude at the store i went to didn't tell me/know when i had gone up there.

^ honestly, I think the Russian ones sound better than the American ones. At least the new/reissue American ones (haven't actually played a vintage Big Muff, so can't comment on them). But yeah... the black/Russian ones sound way smoother.

yeah, i think it sounds fine
However there is no wall adapter on it, so i (am going to) need to constantly buy C-batteries.

Is that why you have an American model? lol

Heh. That's partially how I know I like the Russian models better. I used to have Russian one and I loved it. But after about 6 years of loyal service, it died. So I got an American one, coz I heard they're better... and was really disappointed. Honestly, I never use it anymore because of that. I either use my new amp's tube distortion or the tube distortion in my Tonelab.
But the Russian one was wonderful... I miss it. I've actually considered getting another, and probably will eventually.
My love of Russian things is becoming (has become?) a joke.

Hubby just got a Fender Cyber-twin SE amp.
It sounds great! And has settings to sound like several different amps. And the knobs turn by themselves.

Just after Christmas I got a Line 6 pocket Pod.
I like it. Not bad for just playing at home.
Planning to dump a lot of my gear (My piece of shit amp and most of my pedals) in the not-too distant future, and and Epiphone Dot, which will be my planned first aquisition this year.

Lately I've been wanting an accordian.
Janyoung101

Accordians can be a lot of work -- kind of awkward and not really easy to play. My friend always carries his around with him, which is unusual -- You'll definitely get noticed as an accordian player.
Does anyone have recommendations for standard effects pedals for electric guitar? Nothing too fancy, just something to vary the sound coming out of the amp.
Thanks!

I like a lot of the Boss stuff. It's pretty cheap compared to other effects out there. Hell, go on ebay and find a Boss GT-3. Lots of good sounds on there and you can also create your own effects.
Drunkenmaster
06-14-2008, 12:13 AM
And the Electro Harmonix Big Muff, of course. But there's better distortion pedals out there. I've managed to break (really have malfunction) 2 Big Muffs. The volume pots went out on both of them and I didn't have them long.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll definitely check out the Boss GT-3. I know that some effects pedals plug right into your amp, but I'm wondering if all pedals do that?
What are some of you guys' favorite effects to make (besides just plain distortion)?

A few months back, as planned, I bought an Epiphone Dot, this one:
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y243/Spiteface/Dot335.jpg
and a this Epiphone Les Paul standard, in white a few months later:
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y243/Spiteface/LesPaul.jpg
I''ve since removed the pick guard on the Les Paul.
It's a while off yet, but both guitars will be receiving new pickups.
...and last week, I bought this:
http://www.bassexchange.com/catalog/images/Orange%20PPC112%20Tiny%20Terror%20set2.jpg
Not the exact one in the pic, but the same head and 1 x 12 cab.
I cannot say enough good things about this amp, my Epi Dot sounds so good through it, I've gone without pedals using it, and I used to love my Big Muff.
