I've just noticed that SP haven't released any official publicity photos of the band yet (have they?)

I wonder why.

Not that I've noticed.

I was also thinking about this a couple weeks ago.

I mean, aside from Billy and Jimmy I don't think there are any actual posed pictures everyone together.

When I went to the postponed show in Atlanta on the 30th, the notice they gave us of the postponement had the little AOL Sessions banner on it from smashingpumpkins.com. Thats the only type of "official" photo I've seen, and I wouldn't even call it that.

But when Machina came out they did promo pictures with Melissa and she wasn't on the album...

Howdy all . . . long-time reader, first-time poster.

I live in NYC and I've seen a few posters in the subway for a rock radio station here that features a black and white picture of Billy taken from a show with his eyes closed, one hand raised like he does sometimes after strumming (Jimmy, Ginger, or Jeff aren't featured, it's a close-up of Billy). If anyone's familiar with the city, I've seen it in the Bleeker St. station on the 6, and the Borough Hall station on the 2/3.

And I want one.

:( I miss New York!!!! Bleecker St!

I would steal it if i lived there. What's wrong with you? Those rails aren't dangerous at all.

Also, it's not that surprising. SP has done very, very little publicity for this album. There haven't really been any real interviews (save the ones like AOL and Jimmy's brief, highly edited MD interview) and they haven't been on any magazine covers. I'm not exactly sure why they are shunning the light so much, since they seem so keen to exploit every other avenue, but, that's the real reason there's no photos.

...Jimmy's brief, highly edited MD interview

What do you mean, highly edited ?

What do you mean, highly edited ?

It was edited a lot, you can tell. The biggest red flag was the one question about the previous band members.

...Jimmy's brief, highly edited MD interview...

Firstly i don't think you could call it a breif interview...

Perhaps Jimmy didn't want to say anything else about James [and D'arcy] ? I think it's wrong to assume that he said more about (them) because his answer may not be lengthy.

To me it doesn't read like MD edited the interview a lot... The rest of the interview, (about the drums) predominantly the responses, seem interesting, in-depth, candid and frank to me...

They've pretty much just done their own press (those youtube vids etc.)...I guess this way they can control they way they can come across to the public...don't have to deal with awkward questions...don't need to do hundreds of phoners a day etc....
