I never understood why everyone hates him so much (still haven't heard the music), until I recently read a couple of interviews with him. What a complete piece of shit person.

I hope youre not talking about youre beautiful, because that WASN'T a hit. That was just trash compared to the rest of his cd. but if youre actually talking about a hit, then youre just talking about media coverage. How much media coverage did Elliott have? yeah thats right, so stop trashing someone who you didnt even hear his other stuff.

Does it matter if he goes anywhere? There are people out there that like his music. I for one don't but I am not going to trash the guy. Just because the popular opinion is to not like the guy doesn't mean its right.

I don't consider myself to be a big fan of James Blunt's music, but i feel alot of you are being rather harsh, probably based on the amount of media hype he has recieved :)
When i saw him performing solo on piano on Jools Holland a few years back, i'd have to say he was rather good.
Can anyone here actually criticise his music or is this solely based on how he is being represented by his record company/press?
(just so it be known, this isn't me sticking up for Blunt, as much as it is me sticking up for any artist whos hype/representation gets the better of them:))

My dislike for James Blunt can solely be attributed to the number of times I've heard "She's Beautiful." I've heard it both on TV and in public places so many times, and I swear that the store I used to work at played it at least a couple times a shift.
I have no clue about what media coverage there has been on the guy, it's just hearing that fucking song, it sounds like he's having his balls lopped off. I can't stand it anymore!

I have no desire to hear his other stuff...
Whaddya mean it "wasn't a hit?"
Every 14 year old teary eyed girl knew all the words to the song, as well as every other unfortunate citizen with bleeding ears, because it was played SO much. When everyone knows your song, and it reached the Billboard Top 100 list in 2006, if that's not a hit......?
If his record company is selling him a certain way, he obviously must OK it. I wouldn't stay in a contract that misrepresented what I wanted to do and how I was seen. What does it matter how much coverage Elliott had?
Elliott was talented, and James Blunt has gotten much more coverage for simply being a pretty Irish angel boy who can strum guitar.
And to be "Blunt," go hate on the 20 million other people who can't stand him as well, because I must say I feel my post was not inflammatory.
There were worse posts... "Die in a fire."
Why didn't you write back to him as well? I'm not saying he can't say that, I was just pondering why you targeted moi.
Maybe I should have kept my post to: http://img159.imageshack.us/img159/6859/newthreadrc4.gif (http://imageshack.us)

"You're Beautiful" was somehow #1 on four Billboard charts in 2006 from looking it up.

there's nothing intelligent in his music, any idiot aspiring songwriter with half a melody is on a par with him. it takes a minimum of skill in terms of technical playing ability, songwriting knowledge/theory, lyrical craft...there's nothing there to respect. and the melodies themselves are simple and repetitive. and to top it all off, he's just got terrible sensibility/taste - the guy did a cover of Rocky Raccoon as a serious piano ballad!
and then of course, there's the fact that he's whoring himself to the corporate music-ruiners and gaining fans and accolades more for looks and hype than actual music.
compared to someone like elliott, he's a greasy chip compared to a five-course haute cuisine meal.
all this said, it's not like i've heard much. so who knows? maybe the chap's got some really good music hidden away. but from what he's shown, no. he's shit.

Oh! Oh! I can! James Blunt sings stupid teary eyed, bullshit piece of crap songs for a living. His songs are just dribble and even he knows that. Now I would still think he was pathetic if his songs weren't jamed down our throats but the media just added to the problem. Everyone it equally to blame if they're associated with James Blunt.
He also looks like he sleeps in a gutter.

ok not everyones music preferences are the same, but I seriously want this cd, its different than his last one, there are no clear hits, and his music is more varietized from the 30 sec samples itunes had.

Yeah I know. Actually I found that picture and simply had to use it, so I scoured the forum for something I could use it on. This is what I found. I just couldn't help myself...that picture is gold.

James Blunt wrote most of the songs on his firts album while in the Army, strapping his guitar to the side of a tank.
Or so his press release would have us believe.

I was expecting him to be some sort of hippie with a name like that, instead I get the complete opposite, an upper middle class toff snob who writes shit tunes that leave you crying out for a rope and the type of long wooden beams that can only be found in dark, quiet places such as an attic or barn....D:

The James Blunt hate is strong in this thread. You people need to chill and stop caring so much about someone that you allegedly don't give a shit about.
He's a decent artist, compared to 90% of the other trash you hear on the radio that is.
Like today, there was some mini-concert with some girl named "Roxy" or something, god damn, it was the most horrific thing I have ever heard. They had the same beat going in the background ALL THE TIME. I couldn't tell the difference between any of the songs, or when she talked to the audience and when she was "singing". Apparantly this girl is famous?

his suck-i-ness (relative to other shit musicians) has little to do with this thread. . .well, maybe it does because people are giving opinions, but. . . . .yeah. i think the "hate" contained in this thread is completely on topic.
