why does rep get deleted?

I noticed today that a couple or few of my last reps no longer show up/exist! I don't know why : ( do you? This is the second time this has happened to me recently.

If a thread gets deleted. The rep from that thread/your post from that thread gets deleted too. Only the rep message though. The rep points themselves stay.
