Today I got:

Quail eggs
veggie "ham"
veggie "chicken"
veggie "steak"
various types of tofu
Inari sushi skins
green tea mochi
normal mochi
steamed cheesecake
"Pandan" flavored wafter thingeys
Green tea cake w/ walnuts
Brown sugar cake w/ walnuts

everything was so cheap, so I kept on getting things that looked good. The last two cakes weren't that great, but at least they were only a buck each.

I love inari. One of my favourite kinds of sushi.

Ummm, I dunno, I usually buy those prawn crackers that smell really horribly fishy to some people. I love them tho.

And Mamee noodles.

I guess I do buy random stuff.

there's a great korean market not far from my apartment that sells the freshest fish I've ever seen. I swear those dead fish are going to wink at me. Amazing stuff...

I like those super-chewy bean cakes that are covered in powdered sugar. I also like the little wasabi and seaweed-flavored rice crackers

hmm. mochi is just rice dough. the bean cake might be mung bean...? then again mochi can be filled with beans. AND ICE CREAM! mochi ice cream is awesome. i haven't had it since i lived in hawaii. at one of the malls over in oahu there is a japanese department store, it's all sorts of awesome.

anyway. asian food stores. haha. have you been to the supermarket ones? man those are crazy. there are a bunch of them in southern california. i remember my mom, my brother, and my mom's friend and her children went to this one vietnamese supermarket and my mom's friend's kid threw up all over the place cos it smelled so bad. i would imagine the place smelling like fish sauce (and that shit is STANK if you've ever smelled it!)

bad quality fish sauce stinks really bad. the not-so-bad quality stinks less.

all fish sauce smells stank-ass-bad to me.

yeah, i guess leaving fish + salt in barrels out in the sun for 9-12 months will produce a fairly smelly sauce

I just usually buy whatever is better from the asian store than the normal supermarket, like noodles, tofu et cetera.

- Panda candies (I can't remember the name, but they're wrapped in edible rice paper)
- tea
- incense
- tea containers, bowls/cups/dipping plates
- iron tea pots (and other gift items)
- Hello Kitty crap

I also like to look at the baby turtles, and I guess that's it.

At Indian grocery stores, I like to get mango juice, mango ice cream, rose water, orange blossom water and henna.

rose water sounds horrible!

Sounds horrible I know, but it isn't. I use it when I make my mother rice pudding and it just adds a subtle flavor/fragrance really. But mostly I use it for iron water, makes your clothes smell heavenly. The orange blossom water goes in the rice pudding too and sometimes oatmeal.

no offense but you seem to like a lot of gross hippy crap.

i doubt i'd classify rosewater as hippy, it's primarily in middle eastern cuisine.
