So I have recently updated Windows and stuff, and all was well for a while until everything started slowing down. My first thought was Spyware, so I hit CTRL-ALT-DEL to see if anything was using up a lot of CPU. And I noticed that CPU usage never went under about 40%, even when it wasn't doing anything. And on the list was a mysterious .exe file that seemed to just be sitting there running the CPU at like 40-60% constantly. Seemed like textbook spyware.
So I Googled it and it turned out to be fucking Windows Defender, the thing Microsoft brought out to stop shit like this happening in the first place. So I killed it because I already have Spybot which is better anyway and now everything is fine.
Grrr! :yar:
