| "The Terminal" is a story about Victor Navorski (Tom Hanks), an Eastern European tourist who gets caught between the cracks in the immigration code when a coup in his country leaves him stranded at a New York airport. This touching tale unfolds as Victor wins the hearts of airport employees and a charming but unhappy stewardess, Amelia (Catherine Zeta-Jones). Immigration Officer, Frank Dixon (Stanley Tucci), watching his every move, resents Victor Navorski's ability to go on despite the circumstances and grows frustrated by the man's integrity and character.
Although PG13, there are only a few parts where my 9 and 11-year-old kids would have said "Oh gross!". Over 2 hours I'm usually bored even with action flicks but I couldn't get enough of this story. If you liked "Amelie", you'll love "The Terminal". Tom Hanks has outdone himself with a truly amazing performance. Screenwriters, Sacha Gervasi and Jeff Nathanson provide a canvas where characters develop into people we're unlikely to forget. "The Terminal" is an amazing film - Heartwarming. Funny. Real. See it. | This is undoubtedly one of Spielberg's very frequent off-days. It's shit, and there was nothing that Tom Hanks Or Catherine Zeta Jones' breasts could do about it. For a unique story, it is insanely predictable and had I not been watching it with a close friend who I hadn't seen in a while, I would have left the theatre about a quarter of the way through, which is long enough for anyone given the ridiculous length of the film. Why it had to be so long is completely beyond me. Whatever genuinely interesting dialogue or humour there was could have easily been squeezed into about 5 minutes worth.
Although the story seems completely implausable, there are rare cases in the past where someone has actually been trapped at an airport terminal by international law. However, what is without precedence is someone getting trapped there for literally the best part of a year, with a knack for amazing sculpting and falling in love with a beautiful air hostess whos main hobby is reading books on Napoleon. This film is stupid, stupid, stupid and definitely only one for the family or extremely dim couples. Just take my word for it, unless you like really bad movies, don't rent out this piece of turd.
