| After five long years, Built to Spill fans finally have something to be happy about again. Doug Martsch and company returned in 2006 with an album full of epic indie rockers.
The album starts off with a bang with "Goin' Against Your Mind". Anyone who had any doubts about Martsch's guitar playing will be silenced by this song. It's over eight minutes long, but doesn't feel repetitive. The next song is "Traces", which mellows things down a bit. It's probably my favorite song on the record. The rest of the album continues in like fashion, with song after song that challenge both the heart and mind. This is my vote for the best album of 2006.
