The White Stripes had huge commercial success with Elephant and White Blood Cells, maybe which went to their heads a just a little. Bands are allowed to experiment, sometimes it works out sometimes it doesn't. This is more of an experimental album for the White Stripes, it has their signature production value but the songs are watered down and uninteresting. There are a few worthy tracks listenable ..."little ghost" is another one of those classic little country-esque songs they are so known for. But some songs just scream "this is not the white stripes". Particularly, "the denial twist" sounds like something that was written for Joss Stone. I give them kudos for trying to experiment, but I give them a thumbs down for the music.
