Marilyn Manson's 1994 debut album "Portrait" scared the hell out of many people when it came out, as the next 3 or 4 albums would have the same effect, of course.

"Portrait" is a devilishly good listen filled with silly exerts from movies and backwards looping that Manson was famous for in his earlier years. This album really isn't a concept album much like most of Manson's later works, but more of just a "look how creepy we can be" attempt which may or may not have worked on every listener. The Music is good, and the lyrics are interesting, and I guess that's all that really matters when it comes to music. Best tracks on this album are "Dogma", "Cake and Sodomy", "Organ Grinder", and "Cyclops", all filled with angry shouting lyrics and raging guitars. This album is an exceptional one, and one you will remember songs from after only one listen, as it gets in your head and doesn't go away, especially the track "My Monkey" and "Lunchbox". If you are a Marilyn Manson fan and want to see how far he has come as an artist, or if you just generally like heavy rock and want to listen to something that will get you head banging, just put this album on and break stuff!
