Neil Young, a man from north of the border, has given us all yet another gift of his music. This time around it is a compilation of his all-time most memorable and influential songs. When I first picked up CD, I thought ‘this is great’. ‘Now I don’t have to make my own compilation CD. Neil did it for me.’ Thanks Neil. I popped the CD into my trusty laptop, put the headphones on, and sat back to take in the hits. Down by the River starts the album off and immediately the song brings back memories of good times I had in my college days. As a matter of fact the whole album was like that. Each song would trigger a memory of a time that I had experienced when this song happened to be playing. Memories such as studying for a test(Old Man), cooking dinner(Hey Hey My My), racing through traffic due to the fact I was late for work(Like a Hurricane), feeling sad after breaking up with a girlfriend(Heart of Gold), catching up with old friends at a Halloween bonfire(Harvest Moon), that cover band in a hazy bar(Rockin’ in the Free World), and standing in line at the supermarket(Helpless). Simple everyday life experiences are what make this album. This anthology is practically the soundtrack to my life.

This compilation includes bonus material too. First off, the CD is in Super Saturated DVD format. For those of you who are not an audio geek like me, this means that it has a higher quality sound than your average CD in stereo. Another unique feature of this package is the inclusion of a Harvest Moon video and the Michael Moore, (Fahrenheit 911), directed Rockin’ in the Free World.

In short:
Get this CD.
You won’t regret it.
