After Grunge exploded out of Seattle, thanks to bands such as Pearl Jam, Nirvana, and Soundgarden, a few years later, all of these acts, among countless others who had shared the spotlight, were ready to produce sophomore albums to the movement. Pearl Jam was the first to produce such an album, and it was Vs. Vs. is a much more raw sounding album than its predecessor "Ten", which at times could have been mistook for a live album because of the heavy amounts of reverb used throughout it. Although it was still in essence a Pearl Jam Album and had its "Ten" moments, the sound of Vs. further opened up a gate as to what Pearl Jam could be expected of. It is an important album filled with raw aggression, political insight, and just good music (which should be the first reason why anyone should buy an album to begin with). Even when the amplifiers turn down or give way to an acoustic guitar on this album, it is, by its nature, a raw sounding piece of music but is beautiful at the same time. This is my favorite Pearl Jam album and any Pearl Jam Collection would be lost without it!
