| THERE, THERE was the first single released from RADIOHEAD's 6th and most diverse album, HAIL TO THE THIEF. I was expecting better from a band whose b-sides are usually of A+ quality. "Paperbag Writer" and "Where Bluebirds Fly" sound like they could have easily been outtakes from the KID A / AMNESIAC sessions. All in all, these b-sides are very weak and probably should have remained unreleased. It's okay though. Every band has duds now and then. For those of you who aren't familiar with RADIOHEAD's b-sides, check out Cuttooth, Talk Show Host, Puchdrunk Lovesick Singalong and Polyethylene. All album quality tracks.

| While There There by itself gains this single a decent rating, it's true that the b-sides are rather weak. Some claim that they show the experimental side of Radiohead, and are therefore good. They may well be 'experimental' but Treefingers from Kid A is an easily accessable pop classic in comparison. Reviewer Rating of CD : ![]() ![]() ![]() | |

| Personally, I found this to be a good quality single. "Paperbag Writer" is a very good song in my opinion, especially the way Thom Yorke sings the lyrics. Anything with Thom Yorke in it, is in my opinion, automatically awesome. The way he sings is almost to the stage of orgasm, but not quite. "Where Bluebirds Fly," is yes, the weakest song on the single, but in no way is it a 'bad song.' It is much better than 90% of the stuff you and I hear on the radio every day. The single is worth the money to a loyal fan, but not to anyone else. Reviewer Rating of CD : ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | |
