| What better way to leave this world than to release a wonderful album that transcends all boundaries of time, genre, and conventional thinking.
Who else could release a record with such diverse tracks on it? One minute he's singing "Hurt" and the next minute he's singing "Danny Boy". They're two songs that are so different, and you'd never expect them on the same record. But the Man in Black pulled it off, and he pulled it off so well. Then move on to other popular favorites of rock and pop such as "Personal Jesus", "The First Time I Ever Saw Your Face", "In My Life", and "Desperado". I'm normally not a fan of cover songs, but Cash's versions are actually just as good as or even better than the originals in many cases. And don't forget his original compositions, songs such as "The Man Comes Around" and "Tear Stained Letter". Reviewer Rating of CD : ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | |

| I've never really cared much for Johnny Cash, although this album really caught my ear. Even though I've been on a boycott against the RIAA for most of the year, I bought this CD. In fact, it's the 3rd I bought this year (others being Elephant - White Stripes and Radiohead - Hail to the Thief).
Cash's covers are amazing on this album. Hurt was the first song that caught my attention, it's also so fitting for him to sing it, you'd almost think Trent Reznor wrote it for Johnny himself. The CD I bought also came with a DVD of Hurt's video, amazing and touching... the contains many shots of his history and of his wife June. Other cover highlights are Depeche Mode's Personal Jesus, Traditional Danny Boy, The Beatles' In My Life, Eagles' Desperado, Paul Simon's Bridge Over Troubled Water, and more... Lots of good covers. His originals are fair also, although I prefer his covers on this release. All in all, good album, definitely a great addition to your CD collection. Johnny went out with a bang with this one.
